Antigua Guatemala - Prepare to engage in the ancient art of grinding by hand with the millenary pedernal stone, just as the Maya civilization did over 4,000 years ago. Participants will have the opportunity to crush corn, seeds, and spices, experiencing this enduring tradition just as local communities continue to do today.
The rich Mayan heritage is evident in every aspect of the local cuisine, and there is no better way to immerse oneself than through the hospitality of local families. Collaborating with over 10 families, the host will guide participants through this incredible experience using traditional ingredients.
Participants will prepare and savor Guatemalan dishes such as Pepián, Jocón, or a vegetarian option. While traditional dishes may vary by region, all are crafted with love and a profound understanding of nourishing the body to enhance health and delight the palate. These creations, developed with local communities, can be recreated in participants’ own kitchens at home, surrounded by an atmosphere rich in flavor and culture.
