Great hike with amazing guides - The guides are absolutely phenomenal. So friendly and informative, and they pack you a great lunch. The hike is quite rigorous, so keep that in mind, but the views are beautiful.

Wonderful Full Day Tour, Amazing Company! - Wonderful tour of Pacaya Volcano & thermal spa (water heated by volcano) with knowledgable tour guide & amazing driver! Our group of 8 had a wonderful time exploring the volcano by horse back (highly recommended for 200 pesos round trip). The walk can be steep at times and the horse was a great addition! We roasted marshmallows at the top using a lava oven (optional pizza can be purchased and cooked as well), were provided snacks, and had a guide with us the entire time! The thermal spa experience afterwords was another highlight (no need to include the optional thermal circuit as all pools are included). The food and smoothies at the spa were great along with the massages offered ($42/PP for an hour). Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Antigua or surrounding areas and especially using this company!

Awesome tour of Antigua & El Paredón - Esteban our tour guide for the week was not only professional, engaging and knowledgeable, but also extremely attentive to all our needs. Our group included 4 middle-aged adults, and 2 young adults/older teenager, of various activity levels. Esteban accommodated all our interests/needs with ease and provided multiple options so that we all had a marvelous time.
We also went on several different tours, walking tour of Antigua with street food, Altamira, chicken bus tour & surrounding villages, Pacaya Volcano, and a trip to the black sand beaches of El Paredón on the Pacific coast. It was amazing to experience the different micro-climates. Would definitely go back & highly recommend Columbus Guatemala Travel!

Great Adventure - This tour was a great adventure. Some of us rode horseback and some hiked. It is a strenuous hike up and down the volcano. Our guide was wonderful and informative and the teenage boys who assisted with the horses were great. We roasted marshmallows in a fumarole and had a tasty picnic lunch.

Please do yourself a favor and do this ! - This was definitely a highlight of my vacay. What a great way to start off the trip! I mean c’mon how often do you get to hike up an active volcano, eat pizza cooked by its heat & warm up marshmallows up there too? Everything about this experience was just awesome! We wanted to do it for sunset and there were no issues; they were very accommodating!
We were picked up by JJ from our bnb at the exact time we were told; extremely punctual. The entire ride there was very educational; JJ was really good at sharing his knowledge of certain areas/ towns we drove by which we really appreciated. Once there, we were met by our LOCAL guide, Yimer, …which in my opinion is absolutely awesome! …Not only are we getting a locals insight but also contributing to the local families there. It’s a win win! The trail itself isn’t too bad; I’d say it’s more of an elevation issue that makes it hard. Yimer was super funny and friendly which made the hike harder because it was nonstop talking and laughter. 😆 Additionally , he is a great photographer! He will take however many pictures you’d like and some of his own, which turn out to be better than yours. Lol
We were up at the top in no time and had tons of time to enjoy our pizza, marshmallows & beverages . The views from up there are just stunning! We made it back down safely and met up JJ to drive us back to town. There were 0 issues/ hiccups during the tour … everything from booking all the way to ending was so seamless. I also got the chance to chat with Caty and Milind regarding my travels in Guatemala and they were both very nice and had great recommendations. It really does not matter who you interact with , the entire team is great ! Thank you all! Definitely 11/10

Awesome experience, tour guides could’ve done better - Our tour guide was great. He was very knowledgeable and told us all about Antigua and Guatemala and the volcanoes. But when we started the hike, they went very fast. It is a treacherous hike, I’m in my 50s and couldn’t keep up. There was a guide behind us, but he left. By the time my small group got to the stopping point no one told us what we were doing, we happened to see people eating their box lunches, so we sat and ate ours. We never got our second drink we ordered. So we only had the one bottled water the whole time. I gave three stars because they didn’t gather us and instruct us. We thought we were going to the very top, but that didn’t happen. They also should’ve had guides at the beginning and the end. Maybe if they would’ve given the boxed lunches and drinks at the stopping point and the water off the bus, then everyone would get what they were supposed to. The hike was beautiful though, and I’m glad I went!
