Fantastic location and bread making - Making Soda Bread What a brilliant way to spend an hour or so in the company of the delightful Tracey in her kitchen on the shores of Strangford Lough making homemade buttermilk soda bread. Aprons on, bowls at the ready, ingredients gathered, and griddles warming, we learned how to make and bake delicious soda bread, and it’s pretty much idiot proof, as there’s no need to weigh or measure anything. It’s all done by hand using traditional methods. Then, all that’s left to do is to enjoy the bread with some of Tracey’s homemade treats around the kitchen table, including preserves, and tea or coffee. And there’s always time to rustle up some wheaten and potato breads too: all ready to eat within fifteen minutes of making them. Thanks, Tracey, for a fantastic afternoon’s baking. We’ll bet Paul Hollywood is quaking in his boots! Staying in the cottage On our recent visit to Tracey’s Farmhouse Kitchen on the shores of Strangford Lough, we had the pleasure of staying in Tracey's Farmhouse Cottage, an 18th Century converted stable block, which has been cleverly turned into a comfortable 4* self-catering cottage. Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and sleeping up to six guests, the accommodation oozes quirky, rustic charm, with its exposed beams, wood-burning stove and an open-plan kitchen & living area. And all conveniences have been carefully considered including secure parking, Wi-Fi, a modern wet room, a pretty courtyard patio area, and a separate washroom with washing machine and dryer. Other amenities include access to free bike hire, ideal for exploring the area with its beautiful bays, an outdoor sun terrace with dining and BBQ facilities, and there’s a range of experiences & activities available including Traditional Irish Bread Making, “Paddle & Pizza” on Strangford Lough, and “Canoe & Cake”! There’s also a delicious Irish Cottage Welcome Hamper on arrival, containing a selection of Tracey’s goodies! Close by are several multi award-winning restaurants, all within four miles of the cottage; we visited Daft Eddy’s, renowned for its local seafood. Located on Sketrick Island the views across the bay whilst dining were simply stunning.

Tracey's Farmhouse Kitchen – A wonderful experience! - I went to Tracey's with a group visiting from the United States and we had an AMAZING time. Tracey and her husband Joe are so friendly and hospitable. We ate some wonderful homemade bread and learned to make it too! Anyone traveling through Northern Ireland should check this place out!

Excellent way to learn to bake bread - Really fun visit. Beautiful location. Really well looked after by Tracy and her team. Good demonstrations and plenty of opportunity for hands on baking and you got to take everything home that you baked. Soda bread, wheat bread, focaccia and the best ever potato bread. Yum Fresh Victoria sponge and a cup of tea at the table with new friends to round it all off.

A hidden gem in Co. Down - A beautiful, homely experience with Tracey in her gorgeous home. Tracey made us feel very welcome and she has a wealth of knowledge with lots of humour. We had a great time making irish bannock, guinness wheaten bread and a demo of soda foccacia. I would deifnitely book this again - we left full to the brim of bread, crumble and tasty treats - took loads home as well! A fantastic experience in Co. Down with people travelling far and wide to experience it. I will be back again with my english cousins as i know they will just love it. Perfect for every age and every baking ability

Fine tune your bread-baking skills - Although this was supposed to be a larger group class, there were some cancellations. Tracey kindly decided to hold the class anyway, even if there were only two of us. Her home was warm and lovely and it was great fun to plunge our hands into the dough for soda bread, wheaten bread and potato farl. Highly recommend this experience.

Bread making and friend making - I would have rated a 10 if able. Tracey's home was warm and inviting, as was she. Her class was excellent, she greeted us warmly, welcomed us with tea and a fruit bread and Irish butter. We lucked into a private class, as the others canceled, and she wanted to honor our booking. A fun, delicious 2 1/2 hours spent in the Strangford Loch area. We learned, we laughed, we cooked and we tasted. Highly recommend to all!

Wonderful experience making wheaten bread - Wonderful experience making wheaten bread ourselves with instruction and watching Tracey make a soda bannock and homemade butter and Eileen demonstrating how to make Blackcurrant and plum jam. Very friendly and great fun and company in the group of 10. Lots of tea and coffee and apple crumble to finish. Got to take our wheaten bread and jams home with. Definitely recommend this great and very beneficial experience
