- Argostolion - Since 1757, Argostoli has served as the capital of the Kefallonia Region. It is the island’s hub for commerce and administration, featuring stunning neo-classical architecture. This modern city boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage. Argostoli is built amphitheatrically, offering views of the Koutavos Lagoon and the fir-covered Aenos. Visitors can witness the rare phenomenon at Katavothres, where large volumes of seawater enter the land at Agii Theodori in Lassi and re-emerge near the village of Karavomylos by Sami.
- Orealios - The Robola Wine Cooperative of Kefalonia is located in the “Omala” valley. At the winery, guests can explore the Museum of Robola, sample the wines, and select from a diverse range of wines for purchase.
- Monastery of Agios Gerasimos - The Holy Monastery of St. Gerasimos is situated in the “Omala” valley. Twice annually, thousands of devotees gather to venerate the relic of Saint Gerasimos and offer prayers. The Saint is credited with numerous miracles, and the surrounding landscape is deeply spiritual.
- Antisamos Beach - Antisamos Beach, featured in the film “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin,” showcases the enchanting Kefalonian landscape. The journey captivates visitors as they traverse one of the island’s lushest areas, filled with towering pine trees. There is a designated spot for taking photographs. The beach is pebbly with white sand, encircled by verdant hills, and the waters are crystal-clear azure. - Melissani Cave - The magnificent cave of the nymph Melissani and the ancient Greek God Panas. The Melissani lake cave has been part of Kefalonia since mythical times and was first explored in 1951. An earthquake created an opening in the cave’s roof, allowing sunlight to enter and create a stunning display of blue and turquoise waters. Visitors can explore the lake cave’s interior by boat and see the small island where ancient ceremonies dedicated to God Panas and the nymphs were held.
- Drogarati Cave - Drogarati Cave is one of the largest and most stunning natural attractions near Sami. Archaeologists estimate that Drogarati Cave is over 100 million years old. The cave is approximately 60 meters deep, with an average temperature of 18°C and high humidity (90%). It is about a 15-minute drive from Melissani Lake to Drogarati Cave, and visitors typically spend 30 minutes at the site.
- Agia Efimia - The picturesque village of Agia Efimia is a tranquil town with wide streets and excellent urban planning. Its port attracts numerous yachts from around the world during the summer months.
