Arusha - Serengeti
Serengeti National Park - The name Serengeti is derived from the Masai word Siringitu, meaning endless plains. The reason for this name becomes evident as the grassland savannah extends to the horizon in the South, interrupted only by the unique kopjes. These kopjes are fascinating rock formations created by the weathering of granite outcrops. The plains serve as ideal hunting grounds for leopards and other big cats, offering a great opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural environment through the open roof of the vehicle. In the afternoon, the journey will lead to the day’s destination, the Seronera Valley in the central Serengeti area. Here, camping for the night will be in safari-style tents, enjoying a delightful meal amidst the Serengeti at the Seronera public campsites.
Serengeti
Serengeti National Park - Following breakfast, the game drive through Serengeti National Park will continue. Expect to see hundreds of wildebeests and zebras, along with frequent sightings of lions and other big cats like leopards and cheetahs in the Seronera Valley. After enjoying lunch at a picnic site, the drive will proceed towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon reaching the crater’s edge, the caldera will unfold before you, offering a breathtaking view of this extraordinary natural wonder. Camping for the night will be on the crater’s edge, where the stunning sunset can be admired at Simba campsite.
Ngorongoro to Arusha
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After an early breakfast at dawn, the journey will descend into the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken caldera, boasting incredible wildlife diversity. On the grass steppe and among the acacia trees, nearly all species found in the East African savannah can be seen, except for topis, giraffes, and impalas. The Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard) are often observed within a few hours. Later, the drive will continue to a hotel in Arusha for an overnight stay, with the option of a flight back either the same night or the following day.
