Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Elevation Gain: 943 meters (3,000 feet)

Marangu - Before leaving the hotel in Moshi, you’ll have the opportunity to meet your guides, chefs, and porters. The hike primarily follows a narrow path through the lush evergreen rainforest. Reaching Kisambioni marks the halfway point of the trek, where you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch. Afterward, the journey continues through Kilimanjaro’s rainforests to the Mandara Hut. Upon arrival, you can choose to relax or take a gentle walk to the Maundi Crater. Facing northwest, you’ll see the impressive Mawenzi Peak, resembling a crown with its jagged edges. Clear skies will enhance your viewing experience. Overnight accommodation is in the A-frame Mandara Huts, which can house up to seventy people and include beds with mattresses.
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Elevation Gain: 977 meters (3,200 feet)
Walking Time: 5-6 hours

Day 3: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Elevation Gain: 1,030 meters (3,380 feet)

Day 4: Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo Hut
Day 5: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi
Elevation Loss: 1,920 meters (6,295 feet)

Marangu - The trek concludes with a descent to the Marangu Gate after breakfast. The final hike is truly enchanting, as you walk through Mount Kilimanjaro’s serene cloud forest. Be cautious, as the trail can be quite slippery. Vehicles will be ready at Marangu Gate to transport you back to Moshi. You’ll have the chance to purchase sodas and souvenirs to commemorate conquering the 7 Days Marangu Route. A driver will take you to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight connection.
