- Arusha - The Great Wildebeest Migration is an annual natural phenomenon that sees over 1.5 million wildebeest, 250,000 zebra, and 400,000 gazelle travel in a clockwise circuit through the Serengeti ecosystem. Triggered by the rains, the wildebeest start their journey in the southern Serengeti in December, moving north in search of fresh grazing land. They reach the Mara River in May, where they must cross the crocodile-infested waters to reach the Masai Mara. The wildebeest stay in the Masai Mara until November, when they begin their journey south again. when the wildebeest are concentrated in the Masai Mara and the northern Serengeti, making them easier to see.
5 days Serengeti safari:
Day 1: Arrive in Arusha and transfer to your lodge in the Serengeti.
Day 2: Morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti, searching for wildebeest and other wildlife.
Day 3: Full-day game drive in the Serengeti, following the Great Wildebeest Migration.
Day 4: Morning game drive in the Serengeti, followed by a transfer to the Ngorongoro Crater.
Day 5: Morning game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, followed by a transfer back to Arusha.
