Arusha Town to Tarangire National Park

Tarangire Park is situated 118 km (approximately 2 hours by car) southwest of Arusha, covering a total area of 2,850 sq km. The park features sparse vegetation with baobab and acacia trees and boasts the highest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem. It is renowned for its large elephant population, with over 300 elephants recorded. Tarangire is the only place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope like the stately fringe-eared oryx and the unique long-necked gerenuk are regularly seen, offering unparalleled game viewing. Common animals include zebra, buffalo, impala, giraffe, and the kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird.

Tarangire to Central Serengeti National Park

• 8:00 am: Departure for a 4-hour drive to Southern Serengeti.
• Enjoy a 3-4 hour half-day game drive in a four-wheel pop-up safari jeep in Serengeti.

The Southern/Central/Seronera Valley, known as “Serengit” by the Maasai, meaning “the land of endless plains,” features vast savannah grasslands that provide grazing areas for wildlife such as wildebeest, zebra, Coke’s hartebeest, waterbuck, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelle, and impala. The Seronera Valley is dotted with acacia vegetation, forming structures known as Kopjes, which offer excellent vantage points for predators to spot their prey.

In Central Serengeti (Seronera Valley), the acacia vegetation forms structures known as Kopjes, providing excellent vantage points for predators to spot their prey and shelter for hyrax, pythons, and reptiles like lizards. African leopards are frequently seen here.

Ngorongoro Crater to Lake Manyara National Park

Ngorongoro National Park is the only park in Tanzania where visitors can potentially see the Big Five in a single day. The park is also known for the Maasai families living in circular homesteads called Bomas. Other wildlife includes wildebeest, gazelle, golden jackal, bat-eared fox, hippopotamus, East African wild dog, African leopard, ungulates, waterbucks, buffalo, eland, and serval. Giraffe, oribi, topi, spotted hyena, African leopard, cheetah, and impala are rarely seen.

Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha Town

Lake Manyara National Park - • 7:00 am: Early breakfast.
• 8:30 am: Begin a game drive at Lake Manyara National Park.
• 1:00 pm: Lunch at a picnic site.
• 4:00 pm: Depart Lake Manyara National Park Gate for Arusha City.

The park features diverse habitats, including evergreen underground water forests, woodlands on the western shore of the lake, extensive swamps, grasslands, and an alkaline lake that provides feeding areas for thousands of flamingos. It is the only area in Tanzania with over 500 bird species documented. Common wildlife includes thousands of wildebeest, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, zebra, bushbuck, waterbuck, bush elephant, giraffe, baboons, warthogs, hippopotamus, African wild cats, African civet, spotted hyena, honey badger, black-backed jackal, tree-climbing lions, and leopards.
