Arusha National Park - The adventure begins with a pick-up from your location in either Arusha or Moshi. You’ll meet your trip guide and the crew, then travel by shuttle to Ngongongare gate. Here, you’ll start the registration process to obtain all necessary permissions for the mountain.

Afterward, enjoy lunch at the canteen near the second gate before embarking on the much-anticipated hike. The journey starts in the park’s forest and gradually ascends the hills towards the first camp on this route, Mariakamba. Upon arrival at Mariakamba hut, the first day’s hike concludes, and the crew will be there to warmly welcome you to the mountain.

All huts will be prepared and well-organized, and you’ll be shown to your room for a rest or nap. The waiter will guide you to the dining area, ready to serve coffee or tea. You’ll have time to relax or explore until dinner and the briefing.

Mariakamba Hut - Saddle Hut

Arusha National Park - Your day starts early with breakfast at 7:30 am, followed by the hike to the base camp beginning at 8:30 am. Our friendly, experienced, and knowledgeable guides will accompany you, explaining the surroundings and answering any questions you may have. They ensure everything is in order for you and the crew while on the mountain.

The hike to Saddle Hut is somewhat challenging due to the hills, but maintaining the pace recommended by the guide is key to success. You’ll take a break for lunch along the way, ensuring you stay energized. The crew ensures everything needed is available promptly.

After lunch, continue the hike until reaching the base camp, where the day concludes. At the base camp, enjoy coffee or tea and lunch, with ample time to relax or explore before dinner, briefing, and bedtime.

Saddle Hut - Summit - Mariakamba Hut

Arusha National Park - This will be one of the longest hikes of your trip. Begin with breakfast at 1:30 am, and the hike to the summit of Mt. Meru starts at 2:00 am. Summit time begins at midnight, so resting early is advised. The waiter will wake you when it’s time, and you’ll have a snack before heading to the summit.

The hike to the summit is longer and steeper, passing over several steep hills like Rhino Point, which is 3500 meters above sea level, and over chained rocks before reaching the summit. You’ll arrive at the summit at dawn, capturing memorable photos before beginning the descent.

Mariakamba - Momela Gate - 4hrs Game Drive - Arusha
