• Arusha - Begin your journey with a pick-up from your location at 7:00 AM and travel to Tarangire National Park. The drive will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Arusha National Park is divided into three unique districts: Mount Meru, Momella Lakes, and the Ngurdoto Crater.

Firstly, Mount Meru is a beautifully-shaped volcanic cone with a stunning crater that stands out in the park. This magnificent mountain is centrally located in the park, near the town of Arusha.

Next, to the east of Mount Meru, you’ll discover the Momella Lakes, a series of small, alkaline lakes that attract migrating water birds.

Finally, south of the Momella Lakes lies the intriguing Ngurdoto Crater, often referred to as ‘little Ngorongoro’ due to its abundance of wildlife.

These three areas form an intriguing triangle that is ready to be explored!

• Arusha National Park - Embark on a game drive to observe wildlife. The park is home to a large number of mammals. It boasts one of the highest concentrations of giraffes in Tanzania, making them easy to spot. In addition to giraffes, elephants, zebras, buffalos, and hippos are also easily visible. Wildebeests occasionally visit the park as well.

The park’s main wildlife attraction is the Colobus monkey.

While leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and wild dogs have been recorded here, they are quite challenging to find.

For bird enthusiasts, the lake offers a chance to spot a variety of birds. Geese, hamerkops, grebes, herons, lesser and greater flamingoes, pelicans, and hornbills can be found near the lake. Birds of prey such as eagles and the striking secretary birds are also easily spotted.

Optional Walking Safari

Opting for a walking safari in the park is a great choice as the concentration of predators is very low.

• Ngurdoto Crater - Visit the Ngurdoto Museum near the Ngurdoto Forest. We will stop at the Ngurdoto Museum, which houses a rich collection of the park’s animals, birds, and insects. This will provide you with a preview of what to expect in the park.
• Momella Lakes - With the safari, you have the option of going canoeing at Lake Momella.

Canoeing in Lake Momella is a popular activity. Lake Momella actually refers to a group of seven shallow lakes within the national park. The ride will take about two to two and a half hours, and you will be rowing your own canoe. Your guide will accompany you in his own canoe. During this activity, you will have the opportunity to see hippos, bushbucks, buffaloes, giraffes, and more. You will also be able to spot birds like herons, flamingoes, and grebes. Water birds tend to gather around the lake and feed on the algae present in it.
