Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - Following breakfast, the journey begins to Tarangire National Park for a full day of exploration amidst its diverse landscapes. Tarangire, with its nine distinct vegetation zones, is adorned with ancient baobab trees, the largest in Africa, towering over the wildlife below. The Tarangire River, winding through the park, draws a rich variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and a myriad of colorful birds. The park is renowned for having the largest elephant population in Tanzania, offering a chance to observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at an observatory within the park, providing views of animals quenching their thirst at the river, with occasional sightings of lions hunting zebras or wildebeests. The safari continues until evening, when you will return to the lodge for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Central Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, the journey continues towards the fertile highlands where the Iraqw people cultivate wheat and corn. The route passes through the misty rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where sightings of baboons, leopards, and elephants are possible. Passing through this area, you will witness the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater before proceeding to the Serengeti National Park, arriving by midday. As Tanzania’s largest park, the Serengeti boasts diverse landscapes and habitats, including grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannahs, and mountains. After an extensive game drive, you will head to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Northern Serengeti National Park
Migration at Serengeti National Park - In the morning, embark on a game drive towards the Northern region of the Serengeti. This area, stretching from Seronera for about 100km, features gentle rolling countryside, small rivers, occasional hills, and kopjes. It is home to a large permanent wildlife population and notable geological features like the beautiful Lobo Kopje. The Northern Serengeti is a fascinating and varied region, far from the park’s main entry point in the south, thus attracting fewer visitors.
During August, the migration occurs here, and with luck, you may witness the spectacular river crossings as herds attempt to cross the Mara River, avoiding strong currents and hungry crocodiles. After a full day, you will head to your accommodation to enjoy dinner and a night under the magnificent African sky on the ‘Endless Plain.’
North Serengeti National Park
Migration at Serengeti National Park - After an early breakfast, the day begins with the possibility of witnessing animals crossing the Mara River. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeests gather on the riverbanks, eyeing the lush grass on the other side. It takes just one brave wildebeest to take the plunge, prompting the others to follow. Those that successfully evade the crocodiles are rewarded with the rich grazing grass of the Masai Mara.
Central Serengeti National Park
Migration at Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, return to Seronera for more opportunities to experience the incredible wildlife and natural beauty of the Serengeti. In addition to the migrating herds, there may be chances to see resident predators like leopards, cheetahs, and lions in action. After an extensive game drive, head to your accommodation for a hearty dinner and another night by the fire, relaxing and conversing under the starry African sky on the ‘Endless Plain.’
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Migration at Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, embark on another remarkable game drive in the Serengeti before traveling to the Ngorongoro Crater. Arriving at the crater’s edge in the afternoon, you will catch your first glimpse of the wonders awaiting you the next day – sparkling streams, open grasslands, and countless animals. Spend the night at a nearby lodge on the crater’s rim.
Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater - Early in the morning, after breakfast, descend to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing in one of the world’s most extraordinary places. Here, animals roam freely through unfenced reserves, offering an uninterrupted game viewing experience. The caldera, formed about three million years ago by a massive volcanic explosion, is 610 meters deep and covers approximately 260 square kilometers. It is an enclosed ecosystem. The name Ngorongoro reflects the sound of the bells worn by Maasai cows. It is one of Africa’s best locations to view the Big Five, along with wildebeests, gazelles, reedbucks, and many others, as well as around 500 bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the hippo lake, and in the afternoon, ascend the steep road out of the crater. Overnight in the nearby town of Karatu.
Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
Lake Manyara National Park - After breakfast, drive to the final destination of this epic safari – Lake Manyara National Park. This relatively small but diverse park is located 120km west of Arusha. Named after the shallow salt lake that covers about seventy percent of its surface area, the park floods and dries with the seasons, hosting thousands of flamingos and approximately 500 other bird species. During your exploration, you may encounter monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and, with some luck, lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its varied landscapes, including open grassy plains, primate-filled woodlands, and baobab-dotted cliffs. After lunch, return to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon.
