Also known as the Tourist Route and Coca Cola Route, Marangu Route is the oldest established route on Mount Kilimanjaro.
Many people claim that the Marangu route is the cheapest, easiest, and most popular, but such a statement isn’t entirely true. Though it might be the least expensive, it is not the easiest or the most sought-after. The easiest route would be the Rongai, while the Machame route takes the crown for popularity.
It can be misleading to label the Marangu Route as the easiest. It is the easiest to organize, and it provides a comfortable and wide walking path, along with hut accommodations. However, among all the routes to the summit of Kilimanjaro, Marangu has the lowest success rate!
The Marangu route complicates altitude acclimatization and is less scenic, given that the ascent and descent follow the same path.
It’s important to note that while the Marangu Route offers dormitory-style hut accommodations, a sleeping bag remains a necessity.
