Ngorongoro Crater, a Wildlife Fishbowl, Including Black Rhino, Lions, Buffalo, and Hippo
Ngorongoro Crater - The Ngorongoro Crater is a true wildlife fishbowl, filled with a diverse array of animals. It is the hollowed-out remains of a shield volcano that once stood taller than Mount Kilimanjaro, the Roof of Africa, which erupted two million years ago to create the 21-kilometer-wide national park we cherish today.
The main attraction of the Ngorongoro Crater is the incredibly rare black rhino population of over fifty individuals, supported by the year-round water supply and lush vegetation due to the volcanic soil, along with one of the densest predator populations in the world, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic site beside a hippo pool, allowing you to eat a sandwich right next to some resting hippos, which is as incredible as it sounds!
The Ngorongoro Crater is a must-visit for anyone wanting the chance to see all of the big five: leopard, rhino, buffalo, lion, and elephant.
Tarangire National Park: Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, and More, Before a Transfer to Arusha or the Airport
Tarangire National Park - This national park is often a favorite on the northern safari circuit outside of the Serengeti, as there is abundant wildlife around every corner.
Thanks to a diverse array of topography, which provides ample room for various plant and tree species to thrive, a wide range of herbivores is attracted to the area. This is why Tarangire National Park is known as the “Home of the Elephants” in Tanzania, along with many other species, including buffalo, eland, gemsbok, zebra, wildebeest, and more. Naturally, this attracts predators that closely follow their prey, such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, caracals, servals, jackals, and more.
After visiting Tarangire National Park, you will depart in the afternoon to be transferred back to the airport, either to catch a flight to Zanzibar or an international flight elsewhere, or we will drop you off at your hotel in Arusha or Moshi.
