Tarangire National Park - Depart from your hotel in Arusha at 6:30 am and travel 120 km on a paved road to Tarangire National Park (2,850 sq. km) for a day of game drives. This park boasts the highest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem. The swamps, which remain green throughout the year, are home to 550 bird species, the most breeding species in a single habitat worldwide. After lunch, continue with afternoon wildlife viewing in the park, which hosts lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, pythons, zebras, oryx, impalas, and more. On drier terrain, you may spot the Kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird; the stocking-thigh ostrich, the largest bird in the world; and small groups of ground hornbills strutting like turkeys. Enthusiastic bird-watchers might also spot flocks of the vibrantly colored yellow-collared lovebird, as well as the more subdued Rufus-tailed weaver and ashy starling. Dinner and overnight stay at Panorama Campsite.
Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, depart from Mto wa Mbu and drive through the cooler highland region towards Serengeti National Park. This world-famous park, with its varied landscape of grass plains, dry savannah, and marshy woodlands, is a haven for many carnivorous predators and their prey. It hosts the largest animal migration globally, and depending on the season, you can witness this incredible event. During the short rainy season of November and December, wildebeest and zebra herds migrate from the northern hills to the southern plains, returning north during the longer rainy season from April to June. The herds’ location depends on annual rainfall, but your guide will know the best spots for wildlife viewing. Spend the night at a campsite in central Serengeti. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner
Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - As the sun rises over the expansive plains, embark on your first game drive of the day. With an abundance of prey species like gazelles and impalas, the park supports one of Africa’s largest lion populations, along with other predators such as leopards and cheetahs. After the game drive, return to camp for a hearty breakfast before departing the park and heading towards Ngorongoro Crater. Upon reaching the crater rim, the 600m deep caldera reveals its breathtaking beauty. Spend the night at a campsite on the crater’s edge, watching the sunset over the shimmering springs of the collapsed volcano’s floor. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner
Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
Ngorongoro Crater - After an early breakfast, begin your descent on a narrow, steep road to the crater floor. The crater is home to a remarkable variety of wildlife, including zebras, hippos, hyenas, wildebeests, warthogs, and the renowned “Big Five” – buffalo, rhino, lion, elephant, and leopard. After extensive game viewing and a picnic lunch, depart the crater and return to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon. Breakfast; Lunch
