Arusha - Tarangire National Park:
Tarangire National Park - Following a morning safari briefing and a roughly two-hour drive, you will reach Tarangire National Park. The park’s giant baobab trees, bush savannah, and seasonal marshes contribute to the beauty of this natural haven. Tarangire is renowned as one of the premier locations to observe elephants up close. Additionally, the park hosts buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests, often accompanied by predators like lions. Leopards are occasionally seen, while cheetahs are rarely spotted. From the safari vehicle’s open roof, you can take in the scenery and watch the wildlife. In the late afternoon, you will exit the park and head to Tarangire Osupuko Lodge for an overnight stay.
Cultural Heritage Centre - Situated in Arusha, Tanzania, the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre offers a glimpse into the past and present of Tanzania’s 120-plus tribes within a single compound. The center features a variety of carvings, gemstones, artifacts, clothing, and books.
Lake Manyara National Park:
Lake Manyara National Park - After breakfast, you will journey from the Tarangire Area to Lake Manyara National Park. Known for its over 400 bird species, primate-filled forests, and grassy plains, the park is largely covered by the alkaline Lake Manyara, a seasonal breeding ground for large flamingo colonies and other waterfowl. The park is also home to giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, impalas, and lively groups of monkeys and baboons. Following an extensive game drive, you will proceed to Eileen’s Trees Inn for an overnight stay.
Serengeti National Park:
Serengeti National Park - After an early breakfast, set off towards the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. The drive, though lengthy, is breathtaking and unforgettable for first-time visitors. As you venture deeper into the Serengeti, you’ll understand why its name translates to “endless plains” in the local language. Spanning 6,900 sq. miles (18,000 sq. km), the plains stretch to the horizon, challenging your sense of distance. The park is home to the Great Migration, with 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and various antelopes. It’s a prime location for spotting Big Cats and large predators, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, with many famous river crossing scenes filmed here.
Full Day at Serengeti National Park:
Serengeti National Park - Spend the entire day observing wildlife in Serengeti National Park. The areas visited will depend on the location of the migrating herds. Predators, such as lions, leopards (in acacia trees), and cheetahs, typically follow the migrating animals. During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds move from the northern hills to the southern plains. In the longer rainy season from April to June, they return north. As migration relies on annual rainfall, herd locations vary yearly, but your guide will know the best spots to see them. Enjoy another night at Embalakai Tented Camp on a Full Board basis.
Serengeti National Park – Karatu – Coffee Walk:
Karatu - On your way out of the park, enjoy more game viewing before departing Serengeti National Park in the early afternoon to continue to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon reaching the Ngorongoro Crater’s edge, you’ll witness the stunning caldera below. After leaving the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, drive to Karatu in the Ngorongoro highlands. Here, participate in a coffee plantation walk to learn about coffee cultivation and processing. Spend the night at Hhando Coffee Lodge on a Full Board basis.
Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu Area:
Ngorongoro Crater - Rise and shine! After an early breakfast, return to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater. This massive collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals, including the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – as well as spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs, and over 500 bird species. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch, leave the caldera in the afternoon and return to Hhando Coffee Lodge for another night.
Karatu - Drive Back to Arusha:
Arusha - After a relaxed breakfast, travel back to Arusha, arriving around midday. You will be dropped off in the city center or at the airport.
