Arusha to Marangu

Kilimanjaro National Park - You’ll be collected from your Arusha/Moshi accommodations and driven to Kilimanjaro National Park. Here, you’ll meet your guides and start your climb through the lush rainforest that covers the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro. Hiking for 5-6 hours through this ancient forest, you’ll enjoy a mini safari, spotting wildlife like black and white colobus monkeys along the way. Spend the night at the modern Mandara Huts, which offer comforts such as solar lighting and flush toilets. These amenities won’t be available again for a while!

Kilimanjaro National Park - Start early today for a long day of hiking! Today’s trek takes you from the lush rainforest into the stark alpine zone, covering over 11 kilometers to reach the Maundi Crater. If the weather is clear, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo Glacier before settling down for the night.

Horombo to Kibo Hut

Kilimanjaro National Park - Another big hiking day as you head to Kibo Hut to set up camp for your summit attempt. Climbing nearly 1,000m, you’ll pass the last watering point at 4,130m before reaching Kibo Hut in the afternoon. Remember to stay hydrated during your early dinner, as you’ll be up early tomorrow to start your ascent to the summit!

Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut

Kilimanjaro National Park - Start your day just after midnight! Your climbing team will wake you with hot tea and a light snack to energize you as you prepare for the adventure ahead. You’ll hike in complete darkness for 5-7 hours, arriving at Stella Point a few hours before dawn. From there, it’s another two hours of challenging hiking to reach your ultimate goal: Uhuru Peak. Standing at 5,985m, you’ll witness a spectacular sunrise and enjoy the panoramic view. You’ve made it! Descend back to Horombo Hut via Kibo Hut. With 12 to 16 hours of hiking, this will be one of the longest, most challenging days of your life!

Horombo to Arusha

Kilimanjaro National Park - Celebrate today with one last breakfast on the mountain before descending to the Marangu Gate. It’s an almost 20km walk today, but the steady downhill makes it easier than the ascent. Upon arrival at the gate, celebrate with your porters and guides, tip them for their hard work, and collect your certificate of completion. Your driver will then take you to your Moshi or Arusha hotel for some well-deserved rest.

Arusha to Tarangire

Tarangire National Park - Depart from Arusha to Tarangire National Park (2 to 3 hours), the sixth-largest national park in Tanzania, named after the Tarangire River, the only water source for the animals. The landscape, with its hills and nine different growth zones, is incredibly varied. Experience a savannah filled with majestic baobab and acacia trees, almost stealing the spotlight from the animals. The park is especially known for its large elephant population, including some of the largest elephants in the world.

Tarangire to Serengeti

Serengeti National Park - After breakfast and check-out from the lodge, head to Serengeti National Park through Ngorongoro’s hilly plateaus, where the red-clad Masai live in round huts, and their cattle graze among the zebras, gnus, and giraffes of the savannah. Enjoy a packed lunch along the way. Serengeti National Park is the largest park in Tanzania, named from the Maasai word “siringet,” meaning “the place where the land runs on forever.” The park covers 14,750 square kilometers (5,700 sq. mi) of grassland plains, savannas, riverine forests, and woodlands.

Serengeti National Park - Enjoy a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park, searching for the “Big Five”: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes. Experience the wildlife of the stunning Serengeti, including a large number of Thompson’s gazelles, buffaloes, topi, Grant’s gazelles, eland antelopes, warthogs, eagles, ostriches, and more. You might also see and smell the hippos wallowing in the hippo pools. The ecosystem here is considered one of the oldest in the world, and you’ll feel both humbled and amazed while sitting in your land cruiser. A fantastic day awaits to be experienced and enjoyed.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro

Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a 6-hour game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest caldera in the world with intact walls, supporting 25,000 animals and 350 bird species, all with year-round access to water. After passing the entrance to Ngorongoro, travel through a lush rainforest area before descending into the crater. After an exciting drive down, arrive at the 310 km2 crater floor. The crater rim towers 600 meters above you, and although you’re at the bottom, you’re actually high up because the rim is 3,000 meters above sea level. There’s plenty to see in the crater: the landscape, lions, gazelles, elephants, gnus, and zebras in abundance. If you’re lucky, you might spot the endangered black rhinoceros, nearly extinct in Africa due to poaching. Enjoy lunch in stunning surroundings on the crater floor.

Karatu to Arusha

Arusha - On the last day, after breakfast, drive to Arusha to return home.
