Arrival in Arusha
Arusha - Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and transported to African View Lodge. Your adventure kicks off with a city sightseeing tour on Day 1, featuring visits to the local markets, the Maasai market, the Cultural Heritage Centre, and the Arusha City Museum.
Arusha to Ndutu
Ndutu Lake - Following breakfast, you will embark on a drive of approximately 5.5 hours (covering around 260 km) to Ndutu. About two hours into the journey, you will enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the landscape transitions from hilly forests to vast plains and lush grasslands, seamlessly merging into the Serengeti ecosystem.
Ndutu is situated along the route of the Great Migration, where over two million wildebeest, along with thousands of zebras, antelopes, and gazelles, migrate annually. This is particularly spectacular if visiting between December and April.
Upon arrival and after a delightful lunch, you will have the opportunity to partake in an evening game drive, exploring the Ndutu region, which hosts the majority of the wildebeest migration from December to April. This evening wildlife viewing is an optional activity and will incur an additional charge.
To wrap up the day, you will be transported to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Ndutu to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Ngorongoro Crater - In the morning, after breakfast, you will set out for a game drive in the Ndutu area. Following a half-day game drive and a picnic lunch, the journey will continue towards the Ngorongoro Crater rim. The 75 km drive to the rim will take about 2.5 hours, with some wildlife sightings along the way. The crater is one of Africa’s most remarkable geological wonders and a prime wilderness sanctuary. The day concludes with dinner and a restful night at your accommodation.
Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Ngorongoro Crater - On the final day of your safari, an early start is planned. After a quick breakfast, you will descend into the crater floor around 6:30 a.m. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera, featuring a vast floor of about 260 sq km and a depth of over 2,000 feet. The 5/6-hour game drive on the crater floor offers abundant wildlife viewing opportunities. Keeping your camera ready is highly recommended. Animals such as African elephants, buffalos, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions are plentiful. After enjoying a picnic lunch at the scenic hippo pool, you will begin the steep ascent to the crater’s top exit. This marks the final leg of your safari, with a 4-hour drive back to Arusha. You will be dropped off at your chosen location in Arusha in the evening or transferred to the airport.

The Wildebeest Migration Calving Season safari offers an incredible opportunity to observe the birth of over 1,000 calves each day. As these young wildebeests take their initial steps, they become targets for lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. The likelihood of witnessing predator-prey interactions and a kill is exceptionally high during the Serengeti calving season, making it an exciting time for wildlife photographers, though less so for the wildebeest. This safari itinerary is ideal for visits between December and March. Book as a group to enjoy savings of up to 30%.
