Arriving in Arusha
Arusha - Upon arrival at the airport, a driver will greet and transport guests to their accommodation in Arusha. Here, guests can unwind, relax, and prepare for the exciting adventures ahead. The stay will be at Arusha Planet Lodge in the city of Arusha. Known locally as “A” Town, Arusha is nestled at the base of Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth-highest mountain. The altitude provides a pleasant climate and a lush, green environment. While Arusha itself may not be particularly picturesque, it serves as a convenient stopover before embarking on a safari.
Arusha to Tarangire
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, the safari guide will collect guests from their accommodation and drive them to Tarangire National Park, approximately a two-hour journey. Tarangire is renowned for its elephant herds, savannah, iconic baobab trees, seasonal swamps, and the vital Tarangire River. Wildlife gathers at the river, and giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests are frequently spotted. The park also hosts buffalo, zebra, and wildebeest, which are often followed by predators like lions and leopards. From the vehicle’s open roof, guests can take in the landscape and observe the wildlife before heading to the Farm of Dreams Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Central Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, the journey continues towards the fertile highlands where the Iraqw people cultivate wheat, coffee, and corn. Passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, guests will enjoy a view of the stunning Ngorongoro Crater before proceeding to Serengeti National Park, arriving by midday. Covering an impressive 15,000 sq km, the Serengeti National Park features diverse landscapes and habitats, including grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannah, and mountains. It is here that the great migration of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope occurs. Depending on the season, guests may witness thousands of animals in search of food and water. After an extensive game drive, guests will head to the Seronera Valley for an evening meal and overnight stay in Central Serengeti tented camps.
Serengeti Migration Tour Across the River
Serengeti National Park - On this day, guests will rise early for a full breakfast before embarking on a full-day game drive in the Serengeti. The driver will guide them to key areas within the park, ensuring they follow the wildebeest migration during the tour. The Great Migration varies annually, with the best viewing opportunities from June to September, while the wildebeest calving occurs from January to March. From July to September, the driver will take guests to northern Serengeti to witness the wildebeest crossing the Mara River. Over a million and a half of these magnificent animals travel year-round in search of fresh grazing and water sources. After a full day of game viewing, guests will return to their accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay in Tanzania Bush Camps near the Mara River.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Serengeti National Park - Following an early breakfast, guests will embark on another game drive in the Serengeti, with the chance to spot the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – before heading to the Ngorongoro Crater. The animals roam freely in the unfenced reserves, providing an uninterrupted wildlife viewing experience. Upon reaching the crater’s edge, guests will catch their first glimpse of the wonders awaiting them the next day – sparkling streams, open grasslands, and a multitude of animals. The night will be spent at Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge in the Ngorongoro Highlands, with the warm glow of sunset as a backdrop.
Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Guests will wake up around 5:30 am for breakfast before descending to the Ngorongoro Crater floor, where they can see the Big Five and various bird species, including the black rhino. Lunch will be enjoyed inside the crater while observing nature and the high concentration of flamingos. After a 6 to 7-hour game drive on the crater floor, guests will ascend and return to the Farm of Dreams Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Following the crater tour, a walking tour in Mto wa Mbu village will offer insights into local life, banana plantations, and the opportunity to taste local cuisine.
Lake Manyara to Arusha
Lake Manyara National Park - After breakfast, the safari guide will meet guests at their accommodation to set out for Lake Manyara National Park. This small yet diverse park is named after a shallow salt lake that covers much of its surface area. The soda lake, which floods and dries with the seasons, is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. During the park exploration, guests may see monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, elephants, and, with some luck, lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its varied landscapes, including open grassy plains, primate-filled woodlands, and baobab-dotted cliffs. After an extensive game drive, guests will head back to Arusha Planet Lodge.
Arusha to Kilimanjaro Airport
Arusha - Guests will enjoy a leisurely breakfast and lunch at the lodge. Depending on their departure schedule, they will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
