Great Safari Experiences in Northern Tanzania - An unforgettable safari adventure from start to finish with safari company Meru Slopes, who are based in Arusha. We visited Tarangire NP staying in a luxury tent at Tarangire Safari Lodge (where we could hear lions, zebras and elephants while lying in bed), Serengeti NP (where we did a balloon ride with Miracle Experience - highly recommended), Ngorongoro Crater and Lakes Natron & Manyara. We saw many different wild animals in their natural habitat, including the Big Five and the Ugly Five, had comfortable accommodation with ensuite, had lots of great buffet meals, all included in our package. We really enjoyed our safari adventures in our great 4x4 Landcruiser! Our local driver was a very knowledgeable guide, and his driving four-wheel driving skills were very impressive indeed. Roads are challenging but that's part of the fun! Meru Slopes was very professional and really know their stuff. Can't recommend them highly enough for a fabulous safari experience in Northern Tanzania.

8 Day Mid-Range Serengeti Safari - Lubulu was our driver and guide for our 8 day safari into the Serengeti. His heritage is Maasai, so who could be better, to guide us through the area and share his knowledge. He was excellent throughout, spotting wildlife and sharing information about their behaviours. We couldn’t have asked for more. Our first safari was to Tarangire National Park. We spotted elephants, lion, zebra, and giraffe as well as several bird species. If this was just the first day we were in for a real treat. On the second day we saw a cheetah and her cub. My partner and I had waited 23 years since our first safari to see cheetah, what a thrill. We saw the big 5, the ugly 5, and more. The highlight was the wildebeest migration at the river crossing, a real spectacle, and nothing really prepares you for this event. We sat for over three hours just watching the wildebeest cross the river. The wildebeest just kept coming and coming, you could see them for miles in the distance. It was overwhelming to see the sheer numbers and watching the vultures waiting for one of them to slip up. Lubulu didn’t take us to the Maasai villages, he said his focus was on the wildlife. We did stop at a couple of craft markets, just to take a short break with the option of shopping. I thought the second one was the best. Lubulu looked after us really well. Thank you so much, and whenever I hear the lyrics of Toto Africa it will transport me back to those spectacular moments in Tanzania.

Amazing private safari tour that is much higher end than the term mid-range implies - My wife and I had a fantastic experience on our private 7-day mid-range tour of the Serengeti and the Great Migration Mara River crossing! We spent a lot of time planning this trip, working very closely with our sales representative Jerome Hotti who was both extremely helpful and extremely patient in working with us to plan the trip exactly the way we wanted it, and even met us in our hotel in Arusha the morning before we headed out to make sure everything was just right. We settled on 7 days / 6 nights (rather than 6 or 8 days) and it gave us time to see everything we hoped for. Our very experienced guide and driver, Maeda, did a fantastic job navigating the challenging roads and finding us all of the game we hoped to see on this Safari including several instances of lions. Most important however we were able to witness an unbelievable crossing of the Mara River by a wildebeest herd that must have numbered over a thousand, plus a group of zebras that joined in. The accommodations provided as well as the food served were really first rate. While this is advertised as a "mid-range" tour it is hard for me to imagine that luxury accommodations could offer much more. In particular the Kubu Kubu tented lodge in the central Serengeti was really memorable. The vehicle we traveled in was an oversized Toyota Land Cruiser - 4 rows of seats with an open center aisle and pop-up roof which for the 2 of us was terrific to be able to move around so easily. Maeda kept it well stocked and he navigated us expertly through some very challenging spots. The Serengeti is vast, so a lot of driving is required, particularly to reach the Mara River when staring in Arusha, but it's worth it to see the river crossing. If you do a safari at a different time of year however, it is not necessary to drive all the way to the Mara River, so I'd suggest saving that extra bit of driving. Either way, going to both Tarangire and down into the Ngorongoro Crater are 2 parks not to be missed because there is a high concentration of animals in a relatively (compared to the Serengeti) small area. We also visited a Masai village in Ngorongoro, as well as a local school that Maeda arranged for us on the fly and I'd totally recommend doing both. On the last day we were traveling to Kenya by road at the Namanga border crossing. Our driver Herman got us up there and through immigration and customs right on time, but the guide from the tour company on the Kenya side was delayed for 90 minutes due to car trouble. Rather than leave us waiting on our own, Jerome instructed Herman to wait with us until the Kenyan arrived. This was much appreciated and is indicative of the caring service provided throughout.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Life-changing private safari with Meru Slopes - ask for Lobulu! - My husband and I booked a private safari in August and it was everything we hoped for and more. We visited Tarangire, Serengeti (Central & North), Maasai Village and the Ngorongoro Crater and the whole experience felt effortless. What set Meru Slopes apart were all the extra little things: thoughtful touches at every stop, smooth transfers, clear, prompt communication, and an itinerary beautifully laid out with no hidden costs. As vegans, we were so impressed!! The food was great everywhere we went and our needs were handled with care. Huge shout-out to Shadrack, our first and last point of contact, who organised everything and checked in to make sure we were happy the entire way through. And then there’s Lobulu - honestly, the best guide we could’ve imagined!!! So friendly, caring, funny and just a genuine good person. He’s skilled, kind, and deeply knowledgeable. He positioned the vehicle perfectly for photos, even grabbed some photos of us, and drove so smoothly that half the time you wouldn’t know we were 4WD’ing. He kept respectful distances from wildlife yet we still got unbelievably close and had lions, wildebeest, lions, zebras, elephants, hyenas, & giraffes all came up within 1m of the car!! We had incredible sightings of countless animals - we saw all of the Big 5, and witnessed two - yes TWO - wildebeest river crossings during the Great Migration. It was electric and absolutely breathtaking. Between sightings we even picked up some Swahili with him, taught him some Aussie slang and had so many laughs and sing alongs. Mornings and evenings were a bit chilly in August but days were warm, so bring layers and Meru will handle the rest. This trip gave us new friends, unbelievable memories, and was truly worth every cent. If you’re on the fence, just book it. Highly recommend Meru Slopes - ask for Lobulu if you can! Asante sana! 🦁

Incredible Honeymoon with Meru Slopes - We just got back from an amazing 8-night/9-day honeymoon safari in Tanzania with Meru Slopes, and we honestly can’t recommend them enough. We visited Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, Central Serengeti, Northern Serengeti, and Lake Manyara—each spot was so different and brought new exciting game sightings. The scenery, the wildlife, the whole experience was just unreal. Everything was super well organized, and the whole trip went off without a hitch. Our guide Max was an absolute standout. He’s been guiding for over 10 years, and his deep knowledge of the parks and animals really made the trip. He always seemed to know where to go and what to look for, and we saw so much thanks to him. It was also clear he’s really respected in the guiding community—lots of other guides greeted him by name out in the bush. On top of all that, he was an incredibly safe driver, which we really appreciated on those long stretches and bumpy roads. Jerome handled all the logistics and planning, and was fantastic from start to finish. He even helped us adjust our itinerary just a couple weeks before the trip to fit in an extra day due to a flight change, which made everything so much smoother. We also did two excursions around Arusha, and had Nickson and Edison as our guides—both were super friendly, knowledgeable, and added so much to the overall experience. We went with mid-level luxury for our accommodations, staying in a mix of bush camps and lodges, and every place we stayed at was great—super comfortable, amazing food, and beautiful settings. It was the perfect mix of comfort and adventure. This was a dream honeymoon, and Meru Slopes really made it something we’ll never forget. If you’re thinking about a safari in Tanzania, don’t hesitate—these guys are the real deal. P.s. - they surprised us with a “Just Married” wheel cover for the trip!

Meru Slopes Made Our Honeymoon Truly Unforgettable!! - Our honeymoon safari with Meru Slopes was absolutely magical! We did a 9-day trip through Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara, and every moment was unforgettable. Max, our guide, was amazing—kind, knowledgeable, and always knew the best spots for wildlife. Jerome made planning seamless, and Nickson and Edison went above and beyond by taking us to hot springs, a waterfall, and a coffee tour on our extra days. The whole team made us feel so well cared for and turned our dream trip into reality. Highly recommend Meru Slopes to anyone looking for the safari experience of a lifetime!

Meru slopes an excellent company and safari. - If you have found this company look no further. I was confused by all of the companies offering safaris, but having chosen Meru Slopes I have no hesitation in highly recommending them. My first contact was with Jerome. He responded immediately to my initial enquiry, and was very helpful in suggesting an itinerary based on the time of year we were visiting. His communications at all times were prompt and professional. He is a great asset to his company. We decided to take the mid-range options for hotels, as the days were long, and we didn’t think we would benefit from the luxury option. We found the mid-range lodges to be ideal for our needs. We were treated to traditional rondavel, or tented accommodation during our stay. All of which were comfortable and more than met our needs. The staff at each hotel were friendly and welcoming. The food was buffet style to enable you to choose your favourite dishes. The whole safari worked like clockwork. We were picked up at our hotel in a safari jeep and we were greeted by Jerome, who introduced us to our driver and guide. Then our journey began. There were lots of treats and highlights during the journey, which I won’t spoil, but guests from other companies appeared envious of how well we were being looked after. We saw the big 5 and more. The wildebeest migration was something else. Thank you Jerome and Meru slopes, you are the best.
