Sofia-Plovdiv

Bachkovo Monastery - In the morning, guests can be picked up from their hotel in Sofia or directly from the Airport (Bus or Train station). A 1.5-hour drive will bring us to the Plovdiv area. Our journey begins with a visit to Bachkovo Monastery, the second oldest in Bulgaria, established in 1083. We will spend less than an hour exploring this sacred site and learning about its rich history, traditions, and customs.

Assenova Krepost (Asen’s Fortress) - A 20-minute drive from the monastery complex leads us to Asen’s Fortress, a breathtaking location perfect for capturing stunning photographs of the surrounding nature and ancient ruins.

Plovdiv Old Town - After another 30-minute drive, we arrive in Plovdiv, the EU Capital of Culture for 2019. Following check-in at our carefully chosen hotel, we will explore the old town, visiting Revival-style house museums, a 2nd-century Roman theatre, a Roman stadium, charming 19th-century churches, and the oldest mosque in this part of Europe (1363–1364). The evening is set aside for discovering “Capana,” where guests can enjoy the city’s finest restaurants, bars, and pubs.

Plovdiv-Nessebar

NAR “Kabile” - After breakfast, we head towards the Black Sea coast, stopping at NAR (National Archaeological Reserve) “Kabile,” an ancient Roman military outpost near one of the largest Thracian cities from the pre-Roman era, featuring an intriguing museum.

Old Nessebar - In the afternoon, we will explore the small island of Nessebar, an important sea town from the 6th century BC that retained its prominence during the Roman and Byzantine periods. In the evening, there is an optional visit (20-minute drive) to “Sunny Beach,” the party capital of the Black Sea, known for its modern atmosphere and top-notch clubs. Overnight accommodations will be in the old part of Nessebar, where guests can soak in the ancient ambiance, surrounded by the beautiful sea.

Nessebar-Varna

Varna Archaeological Museum - This day is dedicated to the Black Sea. From Nessebar, we will travel to Varna, the Sea Capital of Bulgaria, where guests can visit the Archaeological Museum, home to the oldest gold treasure ever discovered in the world.

The Retro Museum in Varna - We will also visit the Retro Museum, which boasts the largest collection of cars and memorabilia from Bulgaria’s Communist era.

Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin - In the afternoon, we will stroll around Varna city center and visit the renowned Cathedral. The evening will be spent enjoying Varna’s Sea Garden, featuring a fantastic pirate ship restaurant, beach bars, and dance clubs. Overnight in Varna.

Varna-Veliko Tarnovo

Hotel Arbanassi - After breakfast, we will check out of our lovely hotel in Varna and make our way to Veliko Tarnovo, the Medieval Capital of Bulgaria. Lunch will be in Arbanassi village, followed by a visit to the most famous church, known for its beautiful iconostasis and zodiac wheel (17th century).

Tsarevets - The afternoon will be dedicated to exploring the Medieval fortress of “Tsarevets” (the King’s Hill). Our night will be spent in a cozy hotel in the center of Veliko Tarnovo. Overnight.

Veliko Tarnovo-Sofia

Prohodna Cave - On our final day, before bidding farewell, guests will have the opportunity to visit two of the most popular caves in this region - “Prohodna Cave” (Eyes of God) and “Saeva Dupka” (featuring the largest stalacton, 60 meters in diameter). These stunning natural wonders are located halfway between Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia. Lunch will be en route, offering a chance to try Serbian grill, Bulgarian style.

“Saeva Dupka” Cave - This cave is well-organized and accessible for tourists, featuring 400 meters of corridors and 5 galleries.

Sofia - For dinner, we will return to Sofia. After checking into a centrally located hotel, guests will receive important information on how to enjoy an unforgettable time in Sofia, including details about the nightlife. The following day, a transfer from the hotel to the Airport (Bus or Train station) is included.
