Key features include:
The Leaning Mosque & Minaret
Situated at the Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani Museum (FBQ) within Al Samriya Estate, Al Shahaniya.
Also known as the Leaning Mosque of Doha, it is purposefully designed to lean, which is an intentional part of its artistic and architectural concept, not a structural flaw.
It merges traditional Islamic designs (mosque shape, minaret, dome, colored glass) with modern engineering and innovation (sensor systems, safety design) to create something truly unique.
Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum (FBQ Museum) — a private museum housed in a fort-style building, featuring an extensive collection of artifacts (Additional fee applies).
Al Samriya Riding School / Equestrian Center — offers horse-riding lessons, trail rides, and opportunities to see and interact with horses.
Oryx Reserve / Animal Reserve — home to Arabian oryxes, ostriches, peacocks, gazelles, and more in an open reserve environment.
- Al Shahaniya Racetrack - Al Shahaniya Camel Racetrack is the premier venue for camel racing in Qatar.
At Al Shahaniya, visitors can:
Watch racing events, often featuring robot jockeys, during the racing season. Visitors can also tour the camel stables.
Drive alongside the track in their car during races, following the course.
On non-race days, observe camels in training sessions in the morning or during other scheduled practices.
Robot jockeys, which are lightweight and remotely controlled, are used instead of human jockeys.
Spectators and crowds: there are grandstands available, but many choose to follow the race by car along a road parallel to the track, which is part of the experience.
Visiting when no race is scheduled: visitors can still watch training, and see camels being handled, stabled, and groomed.
