• Daraw Camel Market - Begin your journey at 8:00 AM with a pickup from your Aswan hotel by an Emo Tours guide to explore Daraw, home to one of Egypt’s largest camel markets. Camels arrive in caravans from Sudan’s Darfur and Kordofan via the Darb Al Arba’een (Forty Days Road) to just north of Abu Simbel before being transported to Daraw. The market offers a picturesque and intriguing view of camel trading, with up to 2000 camels present at times.
• Aswan - Camels are traded here daily, with peak activity on Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday. They undergo a two-day quarantine before being sold by their Sudanese owners. Many camels continue to the Birqash camel market, located about 35km northwest of Cairo, where they are sold to Egyptian farmers, exported to neighboring countries, or processed for meat. This market is not for the faint-hearted.
