An Unforgettable Felucca Journey on the Nile - Our felucca journey with Yusri and Shaggy went far beyond anything we could have expected. The felucca itself is beautifully maintained—a charming boat, surprisingly comfortable and even equipped with a bathroom. What truly made this experience unforgettable, though, was the crew. Yusri spoiled us with exceptional home-cooked dishes, while Shaggy expertly navigated the Nile, taking us to hidden, off-the-beaten-path places, including a truly authentic local farm. After just a few hours, we felt like part of the family. We honestly wished we could have kept sailing with them for days. I can’t recommend a felucca experience enough to discover the Nile in a slow, peaceful, and deeply authentic way—it’s simply unmissable.

A dream in the Nile came true! - We just spent 2 nights at a felucca led by Medo & Naser. We couldn't have imagined any sweeter captains. They were so thoughtful, caring, sweet and fun. Upon arrival we got a nice breakfast in our cool guesthouse from JJ who welcomed us warmly. We got some time to rest and shower and walk through the cozy village. Then it was felucca time. A DREAM! We ate very well, took a quick dip in the Nile, drank delicious Sudanese coffee, walked through Nubian village, visited the botanical garden, enjoyed the views of the Nubian tombs and visited Abu Simbel. The pitches they chose were beautiful: animals, palm trees and tranquility. There was a small super clean toilet/bathroom and nice warm bedding. Be sure to ask for Naser and Medo when you go sailing at JJ! My 4-year-old son really didn't want to leave. For us no goodbye but a goodbye!

If you want the real Nile, this is it! - Feluccas are the best way to travel on the Nile. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and genuinely fun in a way the big cruise ships can never match. We sailed with Captain Tarek and Chef Suliman, and they were a huge part of what made this experience unforgettable. Suliman somehow cooked incredible amounts of food in his tiny outdoor kitchen; rich, deeply flavored Egyptian dishes. At sundown, he even prepared a finely chopped fruit cocktail. On top of that, he also helped Captain Tarek with sailing and mooring. Since these elegant boats have no motors, everything depends on skill and experience, and it was lovely to see Tarek guiding and training Suliman so he can one day sail the Nile himself. We flew into Aswan late, after spending our first full day at Giza visiting the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. We stayed on Elephantine Island at Meshra Katto, a Nubian hotel recommended by Walid (the owner of Jamaica Felucca) since his place was fully booked. Meshra Katto was a great alternative. Beautiful setting, very quiet, a perfect breakfast on the balcony, and a short boat ride to where our felucca was waiting. Sailing out of the harbor alongside the enormous cruise ships was eye-opening. Sleeping at night was a little challenging. We each had mosquito-net tents (not many mosquitoes). We were warm and cosy. Perfectly fine for those who don’t mind sleeping outdoors. There was plenty of room on the shaded, comfortable main deck. If you want to sunbathe on the upper deck, it may be one of the best places in the world to watch life along the Nile…just remember to keep your head down, this is a sailing boat, and you’re constantly crossing back and forth across the river. What really makes this journey special is how close you get to both banks of the Nile. We saw buffalo, countless birds (kingfishers constantly diving), and the humble donkey. It’s slow, intimate travel at its finest. Day two began peacefully with a massive breakfast and a morning sail, but then we had to moor for about two hours while cruise ships passed. It was noisy and chaotic, but also fascinating to witness: horns blaring, smoke clouds trailing behind, and unnatural waves pounding the river. The moment they passed (and Captain Tarek knows their schedules by heart), we sailed off again and had the Nile entirely to ourselves. That contrast alone confirmed we had made the right choice. Thanks to Tarek’s timing, we also visited temples, the crocodile museum, and a quarry without crowds, which felt incredibly special. Sadly, our schedule meant we missed the camel market. If you can plan your trip to include it, I’ve heard it’s a must. Somehow, Captain Tarek delivered us to our Edfu pickup exactly on time, and our three amazing nights ended with a visit to Edfu Temple, once again almost entirely to ourselves. A perfect ending. This trip is ideal for anyone who values peace, authenticity, and slow travel. If you need luxury cabins, it may not be for you. If you want the real Nile, this is it. Tips: * Build flexibility into your schedule so Captain Tarek can avoid cruise ship crowds * Try to include the camel market if possible * Trust the crew—they know this river better than anyone From booking to pickup, everything ran smoothly with excellent communication and service. Thank you to everyone at JJ Jamaica Felucca for creating such a meaningful and special family experience for us. An unforgettable experience - We travel with our two boys at 5 and 8 years old. This was a great experience. Three quiet days with the two best captains on the Nile, Mido and Sef! We had the boat for ourselves and Mido made the best food we got served during the entire journey of 28 days in Egypt. A beautiful and quiet journey with time for reading, reflection and relaxation. We'd like to stay on the boat even longer. The whole family cost. A tip if you are travelling in the winter: bring warm clothes for the night and earplugs. The big cruise boats are noisy, and the trains are silent at night. Briefly summarized an unforgettable experience.

2 wonderful nights on the Falucca with the best crew! - We’ve had the best experience on the Falucca. We went with a family of six for 2 nights from Aswan up to the north. The crew (Captain Jack, mohammed and Abdad) took the best care of us. The food was really amazing, but not only that, they made sure that we’ve had everything we needed, even after we left the boat. They showed us real, authentic Egypt, as the beautiful country it is. We experienced the most extraordinary things, thanks to the planning that the crew made for us. We will not forget the food, the people, the beautiful sunsets, the good vibes and also the wise lessons of the crew! Really live in the moment. Thank you for everything. Greetings from the dutch and the vegetarian!! شكراً جزيلاً

Incredible night on the fellouque - 3 days 2 nights in fellouca visiting 2 temples. Sleeping in the felluca under the stars. Sail in the wind. JJJamaica, Captain Ali and Mustafa were great. I loved sailing in the wind, we were 4 adults and 2 children 7 and 12 years old. Mustafa's been making too good meals. A real delight. Do not hesitate to travel with JJ Jamaica.

Great Nile trip - This was a great, authentic trip sailing down the Nile. We spent 3 days sailing on a private Felucca, with Captain Shaggi and first mate and cook Yusre. We relaxed, watching the scenery drift by, enjoying the peace and tranquility while Captain Shaggi expertly sailed us down stream, avoiding the periodic cruise ships and navigating under the bridges. Yusre cooked us some amazing food and we ate like kings. We stopped at various interesting temples along the way and Shaggi and Yusre ensured that we always missed the crowds. It was December and so there was a cold wind on the water and warm clothes were needed, but there was plenty of warm blankets at night and a mosquito net if needed . I would highly recommend this trip for those looking for a genuine and unique experience.
