Aswan High Dam - Travel to the High Dam of Aswan, a remarkable feat of engineering from the 1960s. From its summit, enjoy views of Lake Nasser, the Kalabsha temple to the south, and the expansive power station to the north.
Philae - Constructed to honor the goddess Isis, this was the final temple built in the traditional Egyptian style. Its construction began around 690 BC, and it was among the last places where the goddess was venerated.
Unfinished Obelisk - Visit the Unfinished Obelisk in Aswan’s granite quarries, the source of much of the red granite for ancient temples and statues. The Obelisk remains where it was carved, abandoned due to a crack discovered during its extraction. A knowledgeable Egyptologist guide will explain the carving process of the 1-tonne obelisk and the reason it was left incomplete.
Aswan Day 2
Abu Simbel Temple Complex - The two temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari were carved from the mountain on the Nile’s west bank between 1274 and 1244 BC. The Great Temple was dedicated to Ramses II, Ra Harakhty, Amun Ra, and Ptah, featuring four colossal statues. The second temple honored Queen Nefertari and Goddess Hathor. These temples were meticulously relocated stone by stone to higher ground, marking a significant UNESCO achievement. Enjoy lunch in Aswan, then return to the hotel in Marsa Alam.
