Top - We visited the temple of Horus at the end of February. Superb temple, I highly recommend. A little fresh at this time.

Regarded as one of the best cult temples in Egypt - The first thing that strikes first time visitors is the sheer scale of this place. Dedicated to Horus and built in the later Ptolemaic era but its style respects many of the principles of earlier pharaonic buildings. Its main attribute is the physical presence. The Hypostyle Hall has retained its roof making this area with its huge pillars, most atmospheric. Sadly, some of the finer carving detail in this area has been destroyed in places by Coptic iconoclasts but there is still plenty of fine carving on display particularly further into the temple in rooms leading off the sanctuary probably because much of was buried until 1860 when it was rediscovered. It is an imposing temple and well worthy of a visit. Need to allow around 90 minutes to do the place justice.

Amazing architectural lighting - The temple of Horus is very well preserved and stands out as the light diminishes as you proceed from the facade to the interior. Highly recommended.

Most complete temple from BC times in Egypt - This temple is one of the most well preserved sites in Egypt. The architecture is very much intact and there is a wealth of legible inscriptions on its walls. The knowledge and expertise of an accompanying Egyptologist enhances a visit, as they explain the various areas, statues and hieroglyphics. Well worth a visit. There was a large cafe with seating, but it was very crowded.

Another interesting temple to explore - We went here as part of our tour from a cruise ship. This interesting temple has many interesting carvings and reliefs. Like lots of places they have been somewhat disfigured, but the stories are still there in the carvings. The temple is dedicated to Horus and you will find grand statues that make a good center for photos. I didn't see any services like refreshments or toilets. There is an entry fee.

Edfu Temple - While sailing on the Nile to Aswan, we stopped in Edfu to see the Edfu Temple, the second largest temple after Karnak Temple.

The Great Temple of Horus - Wonderful Ptolemaic temple of Horus, extraordinarily preserved, with the ceilings all in place and the bas-reliefs as if they had been carved yesterday. A maze of dimly lit decorated rooms that make you feel like a new Indiana Jones. Striking and unmissable, here too the cost is 2'550 Egyptian pounds, 11 euros, but worth every penny. There's still a lot to dig up.

Very beautiful temple very well preserved - On the way from Aswan to Luxor, after Kom Ombo, do not hesitate to take a guided tour of this temple very well preserved because discovered sum very recently (half 19th century by a Frenchman). Always dedicated to Horus. Going there around noon, we're alone in the world. It’s really nice. The engravings are very beautiful!

Edfu temple morning excursion - The site is well preserved, especially various scenes carved in the stone and hieroglyphs. The guide spoke good English. Downside: all the tourists are sent together inside and it can get very crowded.
