Experience a Day Trip to Abu Simbel from Aswan. You’ll be met at your Aswan-based hotel by our guide, who will transport you in a PRIVATE air-conditioned vehicle for an exploration of Abu Simbel. Its prominent features are the grand sun temple of RamsesII and the temple dedicated to Queen Nefertari. Discovered in 1813, these temples were nearly entirely buried in sand. In 1960, with the assistance of the Egyptian government and UNESCO, they were relocated to prevent destruction from the rising Nile waters. Ramses II predominantly constructed the temple to commemorate his epic victory at the Battle of Kadesh, visually documented in one of the temple murals. To the north of Ramses’ temple lies the Nefertari Temple, erected by Ramses II for his beloved wife Queen Nefertari, who was his favourite amongst his 200 wives and concubines. At the end of the trip, your private air-conditioned vehicle will escort you back to your hotel in Aswan.
