Ait Ben Haddou - The journey will lead through the High Atlas Mountains via the historic Tizi-n-Tichka pass. At an elevation of 2,260 meters, the grandeur and beauty of the mountains are truly remarkable. This pass is adorned with ancient oak forests, walnut groves, traditional Berber villages, and scenic valley pastures with free-roaming goats and sheep. The mountain pass opens into a high desert lunar landscape, home to Ait Benhaddou, where lunch will be enjoyed. This UNESCO-protected medina has been featured in films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and The Gladiator. Stop for lunch and visit the Ksar.
Skoura - Skoura and the Valley of 1000 Kasbahs. Kasbahs are ancient castles or strongholds. The road traveled today may be paved, but 1,000 years ago, it was a path filled with traders journeying to and from Europe. These Kasbahs provided a safe place to conduct business and spend the night securely. Visit Kasbah Amridil.
Dades Gorges - The journey continues through Skoura and Kelaa M’Gouna, an area renowned for roses and handcrafted daggers, then through the lush Dades Valley. Here, guests will stay in a Moroccan Riad bed and breakfast, complete with tea service and a full dinner.
Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga – Dunes of Erg Chebbi (Camel Riding)
Todra Gorge - After breakfast, the journey proceeds to the Todra Gorge. This geographical marvel, with its pink and gray cliffs reaching skyward, is truly impressive. It’s a wonderful spot for a break and a peaceful walk.
Merzouga Desert - From here, the journey continues to the nearby village of Erfoud for lunch. This area is home to centuries-old horizontal wells called Qanats, which once irrigated the desert. After lunch, the journey continues to Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here, guests will admire the golden pink dunes from the saddle of a dromedary, effortlessly traversing the sand. The Chebbi dunes are continuously changing and moving, reaching a height of 160 meters. The evening will be spent in a luxury camp enjoying first-class Berber hospitality, complete with the traditional mint tea ritual, dinner, and music, topped off with stargazing in the vast desert sky.
Rissani - Nkob – Draa Valley – Agdz
Rissani - After breakfast and a beautiful desert sunrise, the journey resumes to Rissani. This ancient mountain city is known for the Ali Cherif Mausoleum as well as its vibrant souks and markets.
Nkob - Further along the road at Nkob, there will be a stop for lunch before entering the Draa Valley. This lush valley produces some of the best dates in all of Morocco. There are millions of date palms harvested between September and December. These high-quality treats are available along the roadside as well as in every shop. From here, the journey continues to Tamnougalt, one of the oldest kasbahs (walled city or castle) in Morocco. Here, guests will stay in a Moroccan Riad bed and breakfast, complete with tea service and a full dinner.
Agdz - Draa Valley and Agdz. This lush valley produces some of the best dates in all of Morocco. There are millions of date palms harvested between September and December. These high-quality treats are available along the roadside as well as in every shop. Enjoy a walk in the oasis. Here, guests will stay in a Moroccan Riad bed and breakfast, complete with tea service and a full dinner.
Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakesh
Ouarzazate - The final day begins with breakfast and a walk in a local oasis. Then, the journey continues through the Atlas Mountains to the city of Ouarzazate. This fortified village or kasbah was first recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987. Hollywood has also recognized Ait Benhaddou in its own way, filming dozens of movies here, including The Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Marco Polo (1982), and The Mummy, to name a few. Here, there will be a stop for lunch and a tour of Kasbah Taourirt and Film Studios.
