• Acropolis - MEETING OUR GUIDE. The guide will be waiting at Makrygianni Street, near the Acropolis Metro stop, conveniently located close to the Acropolis Main Entrance.

This meeting point offers a perfect vantage point to admire the surrounding wall of the Acropolis, constructed by the ancient Mycenaean civilization. Here, the guide will introduce the history of the Acropolis, highlighting its significance and role in ancient Greek life, and provide an overview of the temples and remarkable monuments you are about to explore.

• Acropolis - TOURING THE ACROPOLIS AND PARTHENON
  The Acropolis houses the Parthenon and numerous other impressive monuments, including the grand entrance ‘Propylaia,’ through which you will enter. Behind it once stood a magnificent gold-encrusted statue of the Goddess Athena, which must have inspired awe in ancient visitors.

Inside, the knowledgeable guide will explain the other monuments, such as the 420 BC Temple of Athena Nike, the mythical Erechtheion, and additional structures like the Theater of Dionysus. Built in the 6th Century BC, it is the world’s oldest theater and hosted the first performances of ancient plays by Sophocles, Euripides, and Aeschylus, among others. Finally, you will tour the Parthenon, widely regarded as a masterpiece of science, engineering, culture, and the pinnacle of the Greek Classical Period.

  Delve into local Greek food culture by learning about various traditional delicacies, from Loukoumades to yemista, yigantes, beeftekia, and many others, including a wide array of traditional pittas (special pies made with thin ‘filo’ pastry). Observe their preparation and conclude with your choice of dish, guided by your helpful guide.
• Acropolis - ENDING YOUR TOUR. After the guide has explained the local dishes and assisted you in making your food selections, you will be left to enjoy them. The guide will also ensure you are oriented for any further plans you have for the rest of your day.

  If this booking option is selected, the tour will begin at the Arch of Hadrian. The Temple of Olympian Zeus will be included (commentary only, no entry), with the guide focusing on Greek mythology throughout.
