- Acropolis - The Acropolis is a significant natural plateau from the 5th Century B.C., standing 150 meters above sea level and encircled by a formidable wall that provided excellent defense against invaders. During this visit, the main entrance of the Acropolis, the Propylaea, can be seen alongside the proud Temple of Wingless Nike. At the summit, visitors will find the Temple of Erechtheion, featuring a porch supported by the statues of the Maiden Women Karyatids, and the Parthenon, a Temple of Athena Parthenos made of Pentelic marble. As you descend to your meeting point, explore the ruins of the Amphitheater of Dionysos, the god of entertainment and wine, and the well-preserved Herodion, a music school established by the 2nd-century Sophist Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife Regilla, which hosts musical and theatrical performances by renowned artists.
- Temple of Olympian Zeus - The Temple of Olympian Zeus is the largest temple in mainland Europe and the oldest dedicated to the king of the Pagan Gods. The Arch of Hadrian stands before the Temple, dividing the city into two sections.
- Panathenaic Stadium - Known as the Panathenaic Stadium or Kalimarmaro, named for its construction material, this is a reconstruction of the ancient 2nd-century A.D. Stadium of Herodes Atticus. This impressive stadium accommodates 60,000 spectators and was the venue for the first Marathon Race and the Modern Olympics in 1896.
- Hellenic Parliament - At the Parliament of Greece, observe the changing of the National Guard, learn about the Greek Revolution of 1821, the guards’ uniforms, and view the Tomb and Statue of the Unknown Soldier. The National Guard changes every 10 minutes on alternate days, with a parade every Sunday at 10:20 lasting 40 minutes.
Departing from the Parliament, the tour passes the Catholic Cathedral of St. Paul, the National Bank of Greece, the Old Parliament of Athens (now the national museum of Athens), and the Trilogy of Athens, which includes the Academy of Science, University of Athens (Kapodistriako), and the National Library.
- Temple of Poseidon - Upon reaching Cape Sounion, visitors have 45 to 60 minutes to explore the Temple of Poseidon’s ruins. This archaeological site features the remnants of walls surrounding the area, the Propylaea or main entrance, the foundations of the ancient town within the walls, and two loading bays that served as a shipyard.
The tour concludes with a scenic seaside drive back to your hotel or cruise ship terminal along the same route, which remains stunning by day or night. There is an option for a lunch or dinner stop at a charming seaside local restaurant.
