The trip was excellent.... - The trip was excellent. The guide was great. The accommodations were excellent. The lunch could have been better. I mean very limited options. Especially for vegetarian options.

It was absolutely... - It was absolutely beautiful! We had a fantastic tour guide, Maria, she was very informative, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. The countryside was stunningly diverse, unique, and beautiful. The monasteries were spiritually and physically beautiful, inside and out. It was an amazing tour.

An excursion to consider - The excursion is really worthwhile, despite the four-hour bus ride to (and from) Athens. Wonderful places. I took part in a tour in Spanish: the guide was really helpful, prepared and kind. He was able not only to tell us the history of these places and monasteries but also to tell us the names and stories of those who continue to inhabit them today. The journey to the Meteors from Athens was comfortable and passed faster than I thought: comfortable bus with USB sockets, air conditioning, lights so you can read in the dark. A convenient stop mid-journey both outward and back, with the possibility to buy something to eat (and also some Greek specialties). We stayed at the Meteors from 12.30 pm until 6.30 pm. By intelligently coordinating schedules, we were able to visit three out of six monasteries and stop at different viewpoints to admire the natural scenery and take some photos.

Meteora is truly amazing history, engineering and culture, a UNESCO world heritage site! - Starting at 8am you face a 4+ hour journey to Kalabaka including comfort stops. At 12:30pm the tour begins to amazing Meteora and the 6 active monasteries, we visited 3 due to some being closed. Seeing the amazing structures on top of monoliths is an engineering masterclass. After the 4 hour tour we then head back to Athens for another 4+ hours. It’s a big tiring day but totally worth it. TRAVEL TIP: Stay in Kalabaka overnight and see sunset at Meteora and breaks up the long drive.

Incredible views - Incredible views of the monasteries and the landscape. The guide was funny and was a caring person, I had my kids with me and he was very patient to us. It's a long day tour, most of the time (10 hours) was for travelling back and forth between Athens and Meteora. Quite rush for sight seeing the beautiful landscape (only 4 hours). That's a pity! If you have more time, a 2-days trip hopefully will give a better experience of the place. The Hermit Caves was disappointed though, where we could only see it from far. Highly recommend tour from Athens!

Stunning views, beware what's included - Stunning landscape worth 100%. We loved it. Stunning views. The nice guide. The food, type 1 menu of the day, salad, 1 second course and water, was not bad, really. We stopped at several places to take pictures... All right. All very punctual and organized. What disappointed me was that it says that it is included in the tour, among other things, is that they come exclusively on this tour The Hermites Caves of Badovas and as we saw them was, quite a distance, from the road, the guide explained what they were and already... That's seen by anyone who walks by. And we saw 3 monasteries inside and very well, but the rest very passing, the largest by far... Anyone who walks by sees them the same. Despite these comments I still think it is worth 100%. I think they need to change the way they advertise so they don't mislead us.

Meteora Throne excursion, our meal scam experience - Would have given a 5 star review if not for the fact we were ripped off for dinner on our way back from Meteora Throne. We bought the pre paid lunch which was 8 euros at the second stop on the way there. On our way back we had dinner at the first stop and decided to have similar set meal but set dinner was Euro27 per person. No warning , we were just herded to take the dinner without given a choice or told the price . No signage to indicate pricing. Spent Euro 131 far 5 person and substandard canteen like food. For an authentic Greek meal of seafood in Athens cost even less than this. Utterly disappointed. If not for this terrible gastronomical shock, the scenery and monasteries in Meteora was stunning and worthy of a good review. Although we had a good time, this meal experience which to us is day light robbery and a scam has left us feeling dejected and robbed not only our money but a good memory.

Maria was the only saving grace! - Right from the beginning this tour was awful. The bus pickup location was in such an inconvenient location. The driver who picked us up was rude, aggressive and did not know how to control the crowd of tourists trying to get on the bus. We were 10 minutes late leaving, not sure why because the driver checked our names before getting on the bus. We rode in awkward silence the whole time we were on the bus. This tour was nothing like what is stated in the advertisement. We paid almost $300 for an experience that for the most part was an awful time. Maria was the only reason why I gave this tour two stars instead of one. She was informative and very lovely. The area was very beautiful but we didn’t fully enjoy ourselves because the morning had started so terrible.
