Discover the remnants of the ancient city of Mycenae, a significant hub of Greek civilization from 1600 BC to 1100 BC. Following the guided tour of Mycenae, the journey continues to Nafplion, a charming seaside town that has served as the region’s port since the Bronze Age. Nafplion was the capital of Greece after the declaration of independence until 1834. During the visit, highlights include the French obelisk, the Venetian loggia, the “White House,” and the impressive old and new castles. Stroll along the marble-paved path to the new town while discussing Greece’s political history amidst the statues of Ioannis Kapodistrias and King Otto.
The tour concludes with a return to Athens.
