Not only about the past - Fantastic. Highly recommend this tour to anyone unfamiliar with Athens. Andreas was an excellent guide who shared so much more than the history of the sites. He also gave us a feel of what it is like to live in Athens today, the challenges and the politics, the beauty and the tasty food. It was like walking the streets of the city with a trusted Athenian friend who really takes you to the places that define the story.

Great learning experience - Mary Kate was a wonderful guide? Knowledge about history and her city. She took us places that even many locals probably didn't even know existed. I learned an incredible amount from her. The pace was spot on. If you take this tour, be sure to message the company and ask for Mary Kate!

An Acropolis private tour that brought democracy alive - My husband, two friends and I from Long Island, NY enjoyed a truly wonderful private tour on the History of Democracy, through the Acropolis, Acropolis Museum and the nearby grounds for three riveting hours on September 29, 2025. It was conducted by your guide Alex, an extremely knowledgable anthropologist by training, who has a gift for weaving ancient myths with the story of Athen’s unusual original democratic system, and linking that ancient political process within its political context as well as to the context of current events. It was one of the most meaningful tours I have ever enjoyed. His English was superb and I would gladly repeat the tour with him. You have a gem.

Great tour of the other neighborhoods of Athens - Andreas gave a fantastic in depth tour of the neighborhoods of Athens. This was a great source of history in the last 200 years. It’s a lot of walking, which might be hard for younger children, but the information was all presented in ways that was great for the whole family. Our guide was very considerate and took breaks and made sure we stopped in shady spots. He walked us through the university areas and the open air markets! He was able to answer all our questions about Greek life today and in history. I highly recommend this!

Highly recommend this tour - go with Andreas! - My adult daughter and I spent a few days in Greece before a scheduled cruise. To my delighted surprise she booked this tour for us the day before our departure (June 14, 2025). I didn’t know what to expect, but as soon as we met up with Andreas he explained what he had planned for us. We saw parts of Greece we would have not seen without going on this tour. Andreas was very knowledgeable and extremely personable, answering all out our questions. The museum he took us to was an unexpected bit of history I would have never known about. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time with Andres!!

Excellent hours spent with Simos to understand the culture and history of Athens - We were with a knowledgeable guide, Simos who is an archeologist and a keen cultural historian. His insights into history and the development of Athens were terrific and well composed. We walked through different neighborhoods, from upscale to those populated by workers and artists, and past bookstores frequented by intellectuals and academics. We saw excavated ruins in the middle of commercial streets, and a bunker that was a relic of the misery imposed through Nazi occupation. This tour is highly educational, provides excellent insight into the history of Athens (and Greece), and well worth going on.

Original and quite interesting - The four of us have loved a lot the tour with our guide Leonidas, who could make clear to us the so rich history of Greece. Leo could also answer the many various questions related to Athens. And we have appreciated to go through non touristic neighborhoods.
