Historically, the canyon was recognized in ancient times. Close to its entrance, on the slopes of the Iti and Kallidromos mountains, on the southeastern side of the Sperchios valley, lay ancient Iraklia (Trachina), one of the five cities in Achilles’ kingdom.
After the trek, the group will visit Thermopylae, the site of the renowned battle in 480 BC, which inspired the globally acclaimed movie “300.” Thermopylae is also renowned for its thermal springs.
Subsequently, the group will head to the Kamena Vourla resort, where they can unwind on “Sissy” beach under the palm trees or enjoy the Water Sports Center and electric bike rentals (additional charges apply).
