Hallstatt is an... - Hallstatt is an enchanting hideaway but be ready for lots of steep stairs. Cars are banned from driving in the town. The parking lot sits high above the city so getting down and up the stairs can be challenging for couch potatoes.

A Great Tour! - A must see in Austria! It was worth the earlier morning and time spent traveling to see the beautiful Hallstatt. It was a little crowded when we got there but we visited close to the Easter which could have been why. Marco was a great tour guide as well!

Worth the trip! - I absolutely loved our day trip to Hallstatt! Although the journey was long, it was completely worth it. We made a few charming stops in villages along the way, which added to the experience. Our guide, Markus, was fantastic—I learned so much from him! If you have an extra day in your itinerary and want to explore some of Austria’s most scenic spots, I highly recommend this trip!

Highly Recommend - Choosing between a big group on a big bus and a small group tour, I opted for the latter and had zero regrets. Yes, it’s a bit pricier, but it was totally worth it. What made the trip special were: 1. Hotel pick up (since the trip starts early, it’s nice to be picked up). 2. The car was great (Mercedes minivan). Comfy, with water and WiFi provided. 3. The way to Hallstatt is long, but with multiple stops with great views it was an amazing and very relaxing road trip. Many other tours take tourists directly to Hallstatt. This one was not the case, and I loved it. 4. The guided tour around Hallstatt was to the point. Brief, but long enough to learn a few interesting facts. 5. The free time was enough to take a boat trip (you need cash for that), have a proper lunch, and roam around the village (around 3 hours). 6. We were given a choice for our free time (sky walk, boat trip, ossuary, etc). You can choose what you wish to do in your free time. 7. Roman, the driver and the tour guide, was very caring and friendly. Be ready to spend some extra money on the following: *Breakfast (there is a breakfast stop at a pretty pricy rest area. Black coffee was almost 6e there. If you are on a budget, grab your breakfast with you). *Boat trip was 8 euros round trip, cash. It’s short, but 100% worth it. *Sky walk (it’s around 20e). I’m not sure it’s worth it cuz the views from the town are already great. *Lunch (I paid 16 for pork schnitzel in a nice Austrian restaurant/ cash. Cards were accepted for payments above 20e). *Souvenirs, etc (credit cards are accepted). Tips I highly recommend this trip.

Memorable small group day trip to Hallstatt - Everything was almost perfect including the weather. The guide Roman was informative and helpful, and tried hard to make our trip a memorable one. The day at Hallstatt was my daughter’s favorite day over her entire spring break trip of 9 days. The only thing to note concerns the stop on the highway from Vienna where the guide picked for some rest and refreshments. The establishment, a place combining a buffet with a shop (Austrian crafts etc.) and a hotel is truly a highway robbery, which for instance charges €8.6 for one piece of apple strudel (usually costs €3-4 at nice bakeries at the city center).

Beautiful day outside Vienna - For me, this day trip was my favorite part of the stay in Vienna. What a beautiful place. Just like all beautiful little towns, it’s obviously benefitting and suffering from tourism. I don’t know what the solution is but please, at least, clean up after yourselves and respect residents’ privacy. And spend money there. Not just take the cliche selfie and leave. As for Marco from White Alligator Tours, who drove us there and other short stops, he was super. Very informative. Such a long day, but he made us feel very safe with his attentive driving. The local tour guide (whose name I stupidly can’t recall) at Hallstatt was also very informative. We’re grateful for her hospitality. I wish her and her pretty town all the best.

Hallstatt is gorgeous. - Expensive for what it is. Other than the stop for the area where the opening scene of The Sound of Music was filmed and the few hours at Hallstatt, the balance was wasted time. A 13+ hr trip was far too long for a few hours in Hallstatt. Hallstatt is definitely worth seeing though. It’s beautiful.

Hallstatt beauty! - Hallstatt was magnificent, and the other stops were also super enjoyable and picturesque. Timing was great- long day but so well worth it. The driving itself was the really tough part to deal with. Aggressive, fast, constantly shifting lanes. Tourists are looking for a more safe feeling, laid back day. Our driver was far too aggressive for my liking.
