• Achilles Point - is a rocky promontory located at the eastern end of Ladies Bay, a small sandy beach in Auckland, New Zealand. The name ‘Te Pane o Horoiwi’ may also refer to the entire headland between St Heliers and the Tamaki River estuary. Achilles Point is named after the ship HMNZS Achilles (70), which triumphed over the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee in 1939. The headland, extending to the Tamaki heads, was formerly known as Te Pane o Horoiwi, named after Horoiwi.

• Winter Garden Auckland Domain - The Domain Wintergardens blend New Zealand’s natural and cultural heritage, featuring structures that showcase a variety of native and exotic plants in the Auckland Domain. They were initially established during the First World War to celebrate the success of the Industrial, Agricultural and Mining Exhibition of 1913-1914, held at the same location. Profits from the exhibition were used to develop sports fields and to construct a Temperate - or Cool - House between 1916 and 1921 for the year-round display of flowering plants. Additional parts of the Wintergardens were planned simultaneously but were not completed until the late 1920s, when a Tropical House, Fernery, and connecting courtyard were added.

In 1860, 1879, and 1880, Ngati Whatua leaders Tuhaere and Te Kawau gathered many North Island chiefs at the Kohimaramara Conference to establish a Maori Parliament. They sought redress on land issues and equality under the law. In the 1930s, the Maori sought remedy through Michael Savage, the serving Prime Minister of the Labour Government. With Maori support, Labour entered Parliament for the first time, beginning a long-standing relationship.
