Auckland Central - The tour begins in New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. As the journey commences, the guide will introduce the day’s adventure and highlight some of the city’s top attractions.

Waikato Region - Leaving Auckland, the tour heads south through the breathtaking Waikato countryside, renowned as the world’s largest farming area. Travelers will enjoy stunning landscapes, mighty rivers, excellent photo opportunities, beautiful mountains, and various farm animals. After learning about local history, there is a brief coffee stop in the charming town of Pirongia. The adventure continues through Otorohanga, known as “The Kiwiana capital of New Zealand,” where visitors can experience all things Kiwi in this unique and delightful town.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves - Upon arrival at the first major attraction, guests will be guided through the ancient and fascinating caves, observing various formations such as Stalactites, Stalagmites, and Lime Columns. The tour then descends further underground for the Glowworm experience. A boat cruise on the grotto river reveals thousands of Glowworms sparkling above. Unique to New Zealand for over 120 years, the Waitomo Glowworm Caves are a must-see for any traveler.

Waitomo Big Bird & Miniature Animal Petting Farm - En route to the next destination, Hobbiton Movie Set, there is a stop outside Big Bird to meet some friendly local animals. Although there is no time to enter the park, the animals often approach the fences for photos, delighting guests.

Hobbiton Movie Set - At the second major attraction, Hobbiton, there is time to purchase lunch before boarding one of the iconic green Hobbiton buses. A two-hour fully guided tour of the impressive 12-acre movie set with a professional Hobbiton guide ensures a memorable visit. The tour includes exploring the lush Shire pastures, visiting 44 hobbit holes, viewing stunning gardens, hearing behind-the-scenes stories, and enjoying a complimentary beverage at the renowned Hobbiton pub, ‘The Green Dragon Inn.’

Tirau - The adventure continues towards Rotorua, passing through Tirau, known as the ‘Corrugated Iron Capital of the World’ due to its unique corrugated iron sculptures and buildings. The town never fails to amuse, and guides will highlight the main attractions along the way.

Rotorua - The formal part of the tour’s first day concludes with a quick guided driving tour of Rotorua, showcasing the city’s most famous sites, including Lake Rotorua, Rotorua Museum, Government Gardens, Whangapipiro (Rachel Spring), and the Blue Baths. If time permits, there may be a visit to a special souvenir shop for discounted shopping and a taste of Manuka Honey. Guests are then dropped off at their hotels for the night, but the day doesn’t have to end there. An optional Maori cultural evening experience and Traditional Hangi Buffet Dinner are recommended for a complete Rotorua experience.

Rotorua & Taupo

Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland - Day two begins with a visit to Wai-O-Tapu to witness the eruption of the Lady Knox Geyser, followed by a fully guided tour of Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland. Known as one of the most surreal places on earth, visitors will see the famous Champagne Lake, Devil’s Bath, local mud-pools, geothermal craters, and other geothermal wonders. The vibrant colors and activity are breathtaking.

Taupo - The journey continues south to Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake, which is actually a giant volcanic crater responsible for one of the largest eruptions ever recorded. There is time to purchase lunch before a Taupo highlights tour, where interesting local facts are shared.

Huka Falls - As the journey heads north again, there is a stop at Huka Falls, one of New Zealand’s most popular and stunning waterfalls.

Hamilton Gardens - The afternoon is spent at Hamilton Gardens, where 18 Enclosed Gardens offer a journey through diverse cultures and times. Unlike any other botanical garden, this unique attraction is rated among the top 3 things to do in New Zealand and is in the top 1% of attractions globally on Trip Advisor.

Auckland - The tour concludes with a return trip to Auckland, featuring a fully guided journey with secret stops along the way, ensuring the day ends on a high note.
