Best tour guide in Portugal with luxury transportation - My husband and I had the most amazing time with Joao! We spent 3 exciting days touring North Portugal with him, and I cannot express enough how fantastic our experience was. Joao was by far one of the best tour guides that I have ever had. He was easy to communicate with via email, and he was always quick to reply any questions or any reservations that I had. We were based out of Porto, and Joao had lots of proposals for interesting day trips. I found it hard to choose from the many options, and I was nervous about scheduling long tour days for over 8 hours. I needed not to have worried! Joao was fun and entertaining, and the tours were well paced with a mix of historical sights, beautiful scenic view points, and tasty stops for regional food and wine. Totally a pleasure! We never felt bored or too tired, and by the end, in fact, it felt like we were traveling with a good friend. We took a day trip to visit Viana do Castelo, Ponte de Lima, and Braga with a stop at Bom Jesus Do Monte. Braga is a modern yet charming city and it had the best pastel de Nata that we tasted in Portugal (even preferred over those in Belem) and Bom Jesus is very special. It is a beautiful cathedral where we were lucky enough to witness a wedding take place while there! (You can take the elaborate stairs or ride a funicular train up to Bom Jesus, but Joao conveniently drove us up to the top!) We also visited the Duoro valley, which is absolutely breathtaking. We had quality wine tastings at a few quintas and an amazing lunch before also stopping in Guimares as part of another day trip. Finally, we transferred with Joao from Porto to Lisbon stopping at Aviero (the Venice of Portugal with cute shops, a famous pastry treat, and a pretty canal for a touristy but pleasant gondola boat ride), Costa Nova (cute beach town with colorful painted houses), Nazarre (fun beach town known for surfing and with cliff views), and also Óbidos, where we tasted the famous Ginja cherry liqueur. Each city was unique and charming in their own way, and I am so glad that I trusted in Joao to guide us throughout the North Portugal region. Need more convincing? -Joao was always on time and he was available via WhatsApp -Joao was professional as well as personable and entertaining -Joao was flexible with the schedule, which was tailored to whatever we chose since the tours were private. -Joao suggested quality restaurants and wine tastings for us. If you are a foodie, you will genuinely enjoy a tour with Joao. We had lobster rice, suckling pig, grilled steak and pork with rice and beans, port wine, green wine, and many other tasty treats. -Joao’s black Mercedes van was very luxurious with leather seats and even a fridge for cold drinks. He also had a cover to put over our luggage to camouflage it while we toured the streets. None of our other private drivers took the time to do that! -Joao was not only fun, but also very knowledgeable. He was more than just a driver. He provided us with lots of historical information, and he personally walked with us as we explored each city. What else? Yes, Joao is an incredible photographer! We took THE BEST pictures of ourselves that we have ever taken on any vacation—and showing our feet since they were not just selfies! Joao made sure of that! LOL!!! It was our first visit to Portugal, and I never dreamed that Portugal would be as captivating as it turned out to be. We discovered it all with Joao. Worth every penny. Obrigado Joao!

Private tour Porto to Lisbon - Joao was an excellent guide. We didn’t have any expectations except to visit Fatima and we saw so much more. He took us to Aveiro which is the Venice of Portugal and that was a great stop. Our lunch was cod as you would expect but the way they prepared was unique and delicious. I would certainly this tour.
