The Odeceixe River, serving as a natural boundary between the Algarve and Alentejo, is known locally as Ribeira de Seixe, which translates to “torrent” in Arabic. However, today it meanders as a long, serene, and tranquil river.

Paddling through the calm, flat waters of the picturesque Odeceixe valley, one passes the village and follows the river towards its mouth at Praia de Odeceixe. Along this journey, a distinctive landscape unfolds, featuring Mediterranean scrubland, small agricultural fields, and tall reeds that provide shelter to local wildlife.

This is a relaxing and genuine way to appreciate the natural beauty of this exceptional region.
