Semien Mountains - In the early morning, the guide will meet the group at the pre-arranged location and embark on a 2.5-hour scenic drive to Debark, the gateway to the Simien Mountains.
Upon arrival in Debark, the headquarters of the Simien Mountains, visitors will register, pay park fees, and pick up a park scout before proceeding into the park….
- Semien Mountains - In the early morning, the guide will meet the group at the pre-arranged location and embark on a 2.5-hour scenic drive to Debark, the gateway to the Simien Mountains.
Upon arrival in Debark, the headquarters of the Simien Mountains, visitors will register, pay park fees, and pick up a park scout before proceeding into the park.
The adventure continues with a 1-hour off-road drive to Sankaber (3,250m), the first campsite and major viewpoint in the Simien Mountains, with opportunities to stop and observe Gelada baboons and enjoy scenic overlooks.
A moderate 2-3 hour hike from Sankaber to Jinbar Waterfall and Geech Abyss viewpoint offers breathtaking landscapes. Along the way, there are chances to see large groups of Gelada baboons and possibly Ethiopian wolves and lammergeiers. The Jinbar Waterfall, cascading 500m into the abyss, provides an incredible photo opportunity!
Visitors can marvel at the Geech Abyss, a dramatic sheer-drop cliff with panoramic mountain views.
By midday, enjoy a packed picnic lunch with a view overlooking the Simien escarpment.
After lunch, if time allows, continue with a 1.5-hour drive deeper into the park to Chenek (3,600m), the most spectacular viewpoint. Here, dramatic rock formations can be seen, Walia ibex can be spotted, and 360° views of the Simien range can be taken in.
Finally, begin the 3-hour drive back to Gondar, marking the end of the trip.
