La Petite France - A favorite among both locals and visitors, Petite France is renowned for its cobblestone streets, canals, and well-preserved half-timbered houses, such as the Maison des Tanneurs from 1572. The 17th-century Barrage Vauban is a covered bridge with a dam and a panoramic terrace. Here, you can savor traditional Alsatian cuisine in historic half-timbered houses and old restaurants. Along the Grand’Rue and its side streets, you’ll find fashion boutiques and souvenir shops offering crockery, wine, and teas to suit every taste.
-
Cathedrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg - Strasbourg Cathedral, also known as the Minster, stands as a testament to over 1000 years of history and is a landmark of Alsace and Strasbourg. It is celebrated worldwide as one of the most beautiful cathedrals. The approximately 140-meter-high tower, the main facade with portal statues, and the 15-meter-diameter rose window are particularly impressive. Inside, notable features include the Angel Pier, the Pulpit, the Astronomical Clock, and the famous Silbermann Organ. Construction began in 1015 and spanned over 400 years in the Gothic style.
-
Maison Kammerzell - If you’ve already tried choucroute garnie, this is your chance to enjoy traditional Alsatian dishes: from duck foie gras to Alsace-style snails, along with the renowned Gewürztraminer wines. The half-timbered house, Haus am Münsterplatz, was built in 1427 and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. It’s a perfect spot for lunch.
-
Palais de Rohan - Constructed between 1731 and 1742 for the prince bishops and cardinals of the Rohan family, the palace is well-preserved and showcases interior designs along with a collection of crockery, goblets, paintings, and books from that era. Notable visitors include Louis XV, Marie-Antoinette during her bridal procession from Vienna to Versailles, Marie-Louise of Austria, and King Charles X. Napoleon Bonaparte also had some rooms redecorated to suit his and his wife Joséphine de Beauharnais’s tastes.

Dubbed the ‘City at the Crossroads’, Strasbourg is arguably among the most picturesque European cities. Its history can be traced back to the era of the Roman Empire, during which it developed into a European commercial hub. It’s also the city where Gutenberg brought forth the innovation of book printing, commemorated with a statue in a namesake square. Brimming with enticing sites such as the Münster Gothic cathedral, Cathedral Square and the globally renowned ‘Maison Kammerzell’ restaurant by Guy Pierre Baumanns, Strasbourg also offers scenic boat rides on the tranquil Ill, sailing through the charming district of ‘Petite France’.
