- Uluwatu Temple - Uluwatu Temple, where ‘Ulu’ in Balinese means heart and ‘Watu’ means stone, was constructed in the 11th century by the Javanese priest Empu Kuturan, also known as Empu Raja Kerta. The temple is located on the southwestern tip of the peninsula, perched on a blue sea cliff approximately 100 meters high, making it the perfect spot to view the sunset. In the 16th century, another Javanese priest, Danghyang Nirartha, visited this temple and added more structures. He spent his final days here, attaining Moksa or liberation. The temple is also home to many monkeys.
- Kecak and Fire Dance - The Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple is a simple yet captivating performance. The men’s chorus chants the words “Cak ke-cak ke-cak ke-cak ke-cak ke-cak” rhythmically, which is why it is called the Kecak or Cak dance. The performance features about fifty men wearing only loincloths, with their upper bodies bare. They form rows of circles around a coconut oil lamp. The Kecak dance is performed for dance-dramas, and the story presented is taken from the Ramayana epic.
- Jimbaran Beach - Jimbaran Bay is a delightful spot for dinner, located south of the airport. The beach boasts white sand and was originally a fishing village with a fish market. Now, luxury hotels like the Bali Intercontinental Resort and Four Seasons Resort have been established. Jimbaran Bay is renowned for its beachside seafood restaurants, where visitors can enjoy the sunset and scenery with a cold drink and freshly grilled fish, accompanied by live group music from local singers performing international songs, with requests welcome. The most famous grilled seafood restaurant is further north in Kedonganan Village.
