Schedule: Depart from your hotel lobby to Palo Verde National Park. Travel to the park for a safari to observe various birds, iguanas, monkeys, crocodiles, and the rich vegetation of the dry tropical forest and wetlands. Visit a waterfall where swimming is possible, weather permitting. Additionally, explore the rainforest in the Bijagua area to see wildlife such as sloths, vibrant frogs, and birds, before returning to the original pickup location.

Palo Verde National Park is among the most ecologically diverse locations in Costa Rica. It features a vibrant array of over 15 distinct natural habitats, such as lowland deciduous forest, evergreen forest, flood forest, limestone hill deciduous forest, zacatonal forest, and mangrove forest. The wetlands, which make up 50% of the park’s area, serve as a haven for thousands of waterfowl, both resident and migratory. Over 750 plant species have been cataloged here. The park is home to 5 of the 6 mangrove species found in the country, as well as crocodiles, howler monkeys, and white-faced monkeys. Visitors can also enjoy hiking in the rainforest of Bijagua near the Tenorio Volcano, where they can observe frogs, snakes, birds, insects, and, of course, sloths.
