A Journey Through Time and Nature

As a cultural anthropologist, I have always been drawn to places where history and nature intertwine to tell a story. My recent journey to Azerbaijan, specifically the Azerbaijan Culture Tour was a profound experience that left me with a deeper understanding of this fascinating region. Our journey continued to the village of Khinalig, perched high in the mountains at an altitude of 2,450 meters. This village, often referred to as an “Island among mountains,” is a living testament to the resilience and ingenuity of its people. The cobblestone houses, arranged along the slope, resemble a multi-storey building, each telling its own story of survival and adaptation.

Walking through Khinalig, I was struck by the sense of community and tradition that permeates the air.
