Excellent! - We booked our day tour via Viator. I was with my 9 year old son and we loved every bit of it. It's a packed day but worth it! The intervals between sites, visits and travel time, were just right. We were lucky that we were still able to go back to our hotel with just moderate traffic. Reza, our tour guide, was very efficient made sure that everyone cooperated with his direct instructions. He explained everything clearly, with such well versed knowledge on the places we visited. Lunch at a local restaurant wasn't extravagant but it was delicious. Highly recommended to anyone going to Baku, Azerbaijan.

Best tour guide you will find - I did the Gobustan tour with Reza. This is the most important tour one should do in Baku. It cannot be missed. Reza is a highly professional guide. The information he provided was always so clear. He also prepared us with transparent about the itinerary and the schedule,  The clear costs of each of the sites, Ensured the group was always together "like one organism". He delivered historic information about each location with specific names and clearly dated details of significant event. It was an informative and stress-free tour.  I learnt a lot and no questions needed to be asked about where we were going and when we were going where.  Reza's got a talent for languages. His English is so brilliant that you'd think he was born a native speaker. He speaks the poshest British accent, of the upper class or royalties. I bet his Turkish is equally an elegant accent, too.  Reza is made to be a great teacher. His curation before we visited each site very much felt like listening to a professor in a lecture hall despite being in a tour bus.  Get your notepads ready and Reza will get your brain going, absorbing all the indepth knowledge he shares. He might just be the best guide you'll find in the Caucusus. Very high quality and well-organide tour managed by Reza for the day. Most recommended that you go with Reza.

Incredible tour! Yanar Dag & mud volcanoes were bucket list highlights. Riad was amazing—highly recommend this tour! - My full-day tour of Baku and its surroundings was absolutely incredible! I got to tick off major bucket list items like Yanar Dag and the mud volcanoes—both surreal experiences. The included lunch was delicious, and the day ran seamlessly thanks to our fantastic guide, Riad. He made sure everything went smoothly, explained each site clearly in multiple languages, and ensured everyone in the group felt included and engaged throughout the day. His knowledge, professionalism, and friendliness made the experience even more special. I would highly recommend both this tour and Riad as a guide—an unforgettable way to experience Baku!

An Amazing Intro to Gobustan & Local Baku Sites- Trilingual Experience - I went on this day tour with my sisters during our recent trip to Baku, and had a great time! The tour was scheduled to start at 9a and we were picked up at 8:30, before heading to the next area for the next group to be picked up. We were dropped off in the Nizami shopping area by 6p, so it really was an action packed day (and worthwhile investment). Altogether, there were 11 individuals on our tour and we spoke 3 different languages- English, Russian and Turkish. Our guide, Reza, was fluent in each (he’s fluent in 5 languages!), and led a flawless introduction to each new amazing place we went throughout the day. He was sure to provide lots of history and detail for each site before arriving and during some of the visits, as well as leaving private time for observation and pictures. His pacing was really good and he was a captivating speaker- we even agreed among ourselves that he should record audiobooks :) Especially impressive given he would transition between each language so quickly! He was sure to connect with each group- sharing trivia, jokes, and genuine curiosity in what we were most interested in learning about. The experience felt super personalized and engaging! Altogether, there were 6 stops on this day- we began with the first oil well and the Bibiheybat Mosque, a close drive from Baku. Then, we began our journey to Gobustan, where we spent the rest of the day. First, we went to see the petroglyphs at the national park, where Reza helped us see how drawings were carved into the stone often on top of each other and learn about how local religion evolved— an amazing stop, but one will FULL sun and no shade, so be sure to bring sunscreen, lots of water and a hat! To get to the mud volcanoes, we transferred into a different van- better suited for the very bumpy ride up. You’ll be jostled a bit on the journey up, but at the top, this natural wonder is definitely worth it! The landscape looks almost like space, as you watch the mud bubbling out of peaks and cracks. Reza shared that the mud is known to have healing properties when applied directly to the skin— we didn’t try it due to the oily texture and strong sulfur smell, so will need to take his word on that :) There was a pause for lunch at that point and we went to a local restaurant, served in family style. Reza had us sit in clusters with our fellow language speakers to allow for a comfortable dining experience— the food there was great! If you’re given the option, try the lentil soup! The second part of the day, we focused on the history of fire worship in the region with two additional stops- Yanardag (the burning mountain) and learned about the history there, along with the local custom of tossing a coin into the area to make a wish. Local superstition says that a coin tossed there could result in a wish come true :) After this, we went to the fire temple where we were encouraged to explore on our own, and then learned about it on the way home (which was our preference). The things we liked the most about this day trip: -it’s a fantastic value for the cost of the experience and a great introduction to the area. It can be a great kickoff experience for your first couple days here- we chose to do it at the end of our vacation as a wrap up. -Reza was honestly so knowledgeable and friendly throughout the trip, so quick to share fun details about a place, tell lots of stories, and keep us assembled throughout the day. He timed the day perfectly, giving us the exact amount of time we needed at each location for pictures and to observe. -it’s a blend of history and natural wonders- a great mix, likely to have a little something for everyone. Note for future travelers: much of this day is FULL sun so be sure to bring lots of water and sunscreen. For the Gobustan sites, you’ll likely want to bring a hat. Also be sure to wear comfy shoes to be able to climb the stair and up the volcanoes :) If you’re prepared with those things, you’ll have a great time on this lovely day tour visiting the sites around the Baku area! I’d definitely recommend it to anyone!
