Mountain Jews have resided in the Caucasus for thousands of years, with various communities and resettlements. They practice a distinct form of Judaism that blends the Old Testament with other traditional customs and a touch of mysticism. Their language, Judeo-Tat or Juhuri, belongs to the Persian language family. Historically, Jewish communities existed in Persia, but after their settlements were destroyed by Nader Shah in the 18th century, many Jews sought new places to settle.

Proceed to Khinalig village, situated at an elevation of 2100-2200 meters above sea level. Legend has it that this area is linked to Noah. It is said that upon seeing this high and level land, Noah anchored and instructed everyone to disembark from the Ark. The village comprises approximately 380 homes, each aged between 200-300 years. Due to the steep slopes, the houses are constructed in close proximity, with the roof of one serving as the courtyard for the one above. The residents belong to one of the Albanian tribes and speak a unique language. Khinalig village is renowned not only for its rich traditions but also for reported sightings of Bigfoot.
