Unforgettable immersion in the heart of the rice fields of Batad - We had an amazing experience visiting the Batad terraces in the Philippines. The landscape is simply breathtaking, a real natural gem classified by UNESCO. Many thanks to Miller, our guide, who was absolutely exceptional: warm, passionate, very professional and always attentive to our comfort. Thanks to him, this visit was even more memorable. We recommend 100%!

An unforgettable experience! - Trekking through the rice terraces of Banaue and Batad was a truly unforgettable experience. Miller was a brilliant guide, sharing his knowledge of the culture and traditions of the area from his own experience of growing up in Banaue. It was wonderful to learn about this part of Filipino heritage. The trek itself is genuinely breathtaking. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the Philippines!

Batad is a must see in the Philippines (Amazing Guides) - TLDR: the 9 hour bus ride to and from Manila is 100% worth it, and make sure to ask for Bridgette!
An amazing two day trek hiking with some of the most incredible views I've ever seen. While May is one of the hottest months, it is worth it to see the terraces at one of their most spectacular points of the year. Definitely a lot of hiking so be ready with your best hiking shoes and plenty of sunscreen!
Bridgette, my guide, was an absolutely phenomenal guide. She made sure everything was taken care of for the 2-day trek, whether it was making sure we always had a lunch packed to having a local tricycle driver on speed dial to transfer between the bus and hiking points.
She also is genuinely one of the nicest people I've gotten to meet during my travels abroad - always making sure to hand out cookies to the local kids and rice terrace workers. She says it best: "Without those working, we'd no longer have the beautiful rice terraces", and she shows her thanks by always making sure to give back to her community.

Highly recommended tour - We had the best time on our 2 night, 3 day tour of the Rice Terraces of Banaue, Batad and Bangaan guided by Bridget. She was an excellent guide, as well as being patient and friendly, and always reminding us about water and suncream she had a very deep knowledge of the area, the way of life and the process of harvesting rice, having grown up in Batad experiencing this all first hand.
As well as enjoying the challenging trek with its beautiful views, spending time in the villages, meeting people and learning about the way of life we had the chance to try preparing the rice from bushel to grain ourselves with personal stories from Bridget along the way.
We booked through Miller who was always very quick to respond any time we got in touch answering any questions we had and ensuring we knew what to expect.
We’d definitely recommend trekking the Banaue and Batad rice terraces with Bridget to truly understand and appreciate the beauty and intricacies of this region and its people.

Fantastic - We had the most amazing experience trekking for 3 days in the rice fields from Banaue to Batad.
Breathtaking sceneries and Miller was the best guide we could have wished for. He was very nice, attentionate, and helpful. He would adapt himself to our rythm and always made everything he could to give us the most pleasant experience, eventhough the hike could be challenging sometimes.
Miller is a guide who will listen to your need before anything else. He also gave us a lot of explanations during the tour about the ricefield and the culture of the vilIagers.
All this to say that I recommend going on this tour with Miller 200%.

Superb trek in the middle of rice fields - Many thanks to Miller (and his wife who accompanied us on part of the tour) for this superb trek in the rice fields of Ifugao province!
I contacted him by email (christmillerhimm@gmail.com) for a 3 day / 2 night tour. He was super responsive and offered me a circuit perfectly adapted to what I had asked him. I did not wish to take the night bus from Manila, so I took a flight to Cauayan on Saturday morning, and returned on Tuesday morning with Monday night already booked near the airport. Even if this tour is not the most classic, I found it really good. It allows you to see the main sights and offers 2 days walk on the 3 days. We reached Banaue on the first day with some stops along the way, then on the second day trek between Banaue and Cambulo, a village accessible only on foot. On the 3rd day we continued the trek to Batad, then back to Cauayan in the afternoon (about 4h drive).
The comfort for these 2 nights was certainly very basic, but you are immersed in local life, which is very rewarding. As Cambulo and Batad are only accessible on foot, they are very little developed villages where the inhabitants live very simply. This region is much less touristy than I thought, because it remains inaccessible. It is also necessary to walk and face the (very) many steps that allow to pass from one rice field to another. Depending on the weather conditions it can get more difficult, and showers are not uncommon in these mountains! You have to be prepared for this and have a minimum of physical condition.
An unforgettable experience to live once in a lifetime!

Stunning Landscapes and Excellent Guided Experience - My wife and I had a great experience with Miller and his wife Bridgette who was our guide for the trip.
Bridgette grew up in Batad and is very kind and knowledgable about the history and local practices around the rice terraces. She knew every plant that we asked about and explained their fascinating traditional use. She was also very flexible with the schedule and accommodated our interests and goals. My wife and I appreciated learning so much about the Indigenous people and the environment. We also enjoyed the fresh food and of course, the incredible landscape.
The only thing we’d like to be informed about in the future is that you should travel light since a tricycle can only carry so much weight around steep roads. Your option is to either leave your suitcases at a accommodation in Banaue town centre before heading to Batad OR pay for an extra tricycle to have your luggage with you. Not a dealbreaker but would have been better to know so that we can pack accordingly.
Otherwise, we highly recommend booking a tour with Banaue Adventours and we’ll definitely be back to experience it more :)
