• Bang Pa-In Palace - Bang Pa-In Palace is an ancient palace dating back to the Ayutthaya era. The Royal Palace at Bang Pa-In has a history that stretches back to the 17th century. The palace is divided into two zones: the inner zone, reserved for the royal family as a resting place, and the outer zone, which is open to the public and tourists. The architecture and art style of this palace are truly masterpieces, with carvings on every wall. The main chamber floor is adorned with Jay tiles, each painted with art, and the surrounding area is decorated with Chinese furniture and decorations.
• Wat Mahathat - This is one of the oldest and most significant temples in Ayutthaya’s history, as it housed the Buddha’s holy relic. The temple is located within the Ayutthaya Historical Park, where important royal ceremonies of the Ayutthaya era were held.
• Historic City of Ayutthaya - The Historic City of Ayutthaya was founded in 1350. The city was attacked and destroyed by the Burmese army in 1767, who burned it to the ground and forced the inhabitants to abandon it. Ayutthaya is now an archaeological ruin, characterized by the remains of tall prang (reliquary towers) and Buddhist monasteries of monumental proportions, which provide insight into the city’s past size and the splendor of its architecture.
• Wat Chaiwatthanaram - Built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong to honor his mother, Wat Chaiwatthanaram was designed as a replica of the Angkor temple. The architectural style is influenced by the Angkor temple in Cambodia, with its unique feature being a large, central prang (Khmer-style pagoda) surrounded by smaller prangs.
• Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit - Phra Mongkhon Bophit is one of the largest bronze Buddha images in Thailand, measuring approximately 9.5 meters across the lap and 12.5 meters in height (excluding the pedestal). The Buddha image is seated in the position of Subduing Mara. Wat Mongkhon Bophit is an ‘active’ temple compound, and throughout the day, many people visit and worship the Buddha image.
• Wat Phra Sri Sanphet - This temple is not only a significant historical site but also considered the spiritual center of Thais for a long time. Wat Phra Sri Sanphet is the royal monastery, and therefore no monk is allowed to reside there. At the heart of the temple, there are three adjacent Ceylonese (or bell-shaped) pagodas situated on rectangular platforms. It is believed that these platforms were the base of royal houses during the Ayutthaya period.
