- Bang Pa In Palace - Begin your private Ayutthaya day tour with a hotel pick-up from the Bangkok city area at 8 am, accompanied by an English-speaking guide. The first destination is Bang Pa In Palace, the summer residence of the Thai monarchs. Situated approximately 15 km south of Ayutthaya and 50 km north of Bangkok along the Chao Phraya River, the palace was named after the island on which it was constructed. Originally built around 1600 by King Prast Thong, who was born there, the palace was used by successive kings until its destruction during the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767. King Mongkut, Rama IV, restored the palace, and his son, King Chulalongkorn (Phra Bat Somdet, Rama V), incorporated many European elements into its reconstruction. Before ascending the throne, Mongkut’s education as a monk took him on extensive travels, including to Europe, and his son later opened Thailand to Western influences.
- Wat Mahathat - Considered the spiritual heart of the Early Ayutthaya Period, Wat Mahathat served as the royal ceremonial site for both religious and secular events until King Trailoknat replaced it with Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Constructed before Ayutthaya became the Siamese capital, the temple featured a Khmer-style prang (now collapsed) that once housed a miniature casket containing the Buddha’s relics, now displayed at Chao Sam Phraya Museum. Besides the main prang, Wat Mahathat is renowned for the Buddha’s head entwined in the roots of a banyan tree, a popular symbol of Ayutthaya. The head is vigilantly protected, and any disrespectful actions, such as taking photos while standing over the Buddha’s head, are strictly prohibited.
- Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam) - The Reclining Buddha, which measures 37 meters in length and 8 meters in height, has endured over time. Originally enclosed by a monastery building, now only its foundations remain, but restoration efforts in the 1950s have preserved the Buddha. Facing west, the Buddha rests its head on a lotus flower, with a vertical straight arm supporting it, indicating its construction during the Middle Ayutthaya period (post-16th century). In contrast, Reclining Buddhas from the Early Ayutthaya period were sculpted with a folded supporting arm. A notable feature of this Buddha is its toes, all of which are the same length, with the feet alone measuring 5 meters.
- Wat Phra Sri Sanphet - sdfasdfsd
- Wat Yai Chai Mang Khon - This well-preserved ancient royal monastery, located near the eastern entrance to the inner city, is renowned for its large reclining Buddha and a 62-meter inverted bell-shaped chedi (pagoda) built to commemorate King Naresuan’s victory over the Burmese. Set within expansive landscaped grounds, the temple was established during King U-Thong’s reign (1350 – 1369) as a forest temple school. The principal chedi is surrounded by cloister walls lined with numerous Buddha images, a distinctive architectural feature of the Early Ayutthaya Period.
- Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit - Situated south of Wat Phra Si Sanphet, this standalone chapel was constructed to house a large bronze Buddha image, Phra Mongkol Bophit. It was plundered and burned by the Burmese but was eventually restored to its former splendor in 1956. Although it contains a Buddha image, Wiharn Phra Mongkol Bophit is not classified as a temple, as it is the sole structure remaining, built on the original site of Wat Chi Chiang, which was destroyed in 1767 along with the rest of Ayutthaya.
- Historic City of Ayutthaya - The Historic City of Ayutthaya is among the most remarkable in the world. Established in 1350, it served as the capital of the Siamese Kingdom in present-day Thailand. Following the decline of the equally impressive Angkor Empire, Ayutthaya was ideally positioned to fill the power void. Over the next four centuries, it thrived as possibly the world’s most significant economic capital, strategically located between India and China. Ayutthaya was admired and emulated by many kingdoms near and far. The Japanese, Dutch, and others described the capital with awe and established trade settlements outside the city limits. At that time, Siam was very strict about not allowing outsiders into the main city. Finally, it’s time to return, with a drop-off at your Bangkok City Hotel around 5 pm.

Most Memorable Day of Trip! - My day with Ketsiree was wonderful. She was a fantastic guide and my tour was the highlight of my trip! She was knowledgeable about all of the sites and even took me to a Michelin star local dessert house, as well as a local market for souvenirs. The driver was wonderful too. Always punctual and there when we needed her. Highly recommend!

Excellent Private Tour of Ayutthaya - It was very interesting to see the sites of the old capital of Siam. My tour guide from Mam Holidays was Miss Siriwaritsara Petcharapan. Siri went well above and beyond
the scope of a tour guide. She was a wealth of information about Ayutthaya. I would recommend the tour and Siri to everybody.

Excellent Private Ayutthaya Temple Tour! - We have decided in last minute(on Saturday evening for Sunday) to take a private tour to Ayutthaya and were not sure it can be managed in a such short time. But in the morning well advance before agreed time our guide Miss Supatsara was already waiting for us. She was very attentive to our preferences for trip schedule and a focus of the tour. We enjoyed very much in depth information about history, current situation, daily life in Thailand she has shared with us. She was extremely kind and helpful in any aspect. It was a great day for us and closing of our travel through south east Asia. Highly recommendable!

Fun and educational tour - This tour with our guide Rose was excellent! We had a fun-filled day learning about the history of temples and and ancient ruins of Ayutthaya. Rose is filled with knowledge and she enjoyed sharing it as we visited each location. She also took many photos of us. A private driver in an air-conditioned car would pick us up and drop us off at the entrance of each location. Also included with the tour was a delicious Thai lunch at an air-conditioned riverside restaurant which was a nice reprieve from the heat. Yes, it’s very hot there! We enjoyed our day so much with our guide Rose that we immediately booked her for another private tour for a different day! Thank you Rose for an amazing day and we look forward to our next tour with you!

Our guide Miss Supatsara Wonghong was very kind, helpful and communicative, shared various local information and took us to lunch at a tasty buffet with various options. The car was air conditioned and very comfortable. We recommend this tour to anyone who wants to visit various Buddhist temples and the beautiful king's palace in Ayutthaya where we feed some fishes and a cute turtle.
