Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam) - Located in Pratoochai District, behind the Ancient Palace and Pratoochai Primary School, within the area of Wat Worapoh (Wat Rakhang) and Wat Worachettharam. It is 800 meters from Wat Phra Mongkon Bophit. Despite some difficulty locating it, Wat Lokayasutharam is near Wat Worachettharam and Wat Worapoh.
Wat Mahathat - Situated almost at the center of Ayutthaya, Wat Mahathat (Temple of the Great Relics) is the symbolic center where the Buddha’s relics were enshrined and was also the residence of the Supreme Patriarch or leader of the Thai Buddhist monks. Believed to have been built during the 14th century A.D. (early Ayutthaya period).
Historic City of Ayutthaya - Travel to the Ayutthaya Historical Park. Once a glorious capital city, located 80km from Bangkok, it was destroyed by the Burmese army in 1767 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Many magnificent palaces and temples remain standing.
