We had a personal driver... - We had a personal driver and guide for the two day visit. The visit to Angkor Wat was fantastic. The guide, Yuth, was knowledgeable and personable. He went above and beyond expectations and helped us make reservations to attend an activity that wasn’t part of the tour. The driver was attentive and always on time.

Thoroughly enjoyable! - Our guide and driver were punctual, informative and especially kind to travel with. My husband left his cane on the boat tour and they made sure to get it back even though the driver had gone home. Tips, wear sturdy walking shoes, breathable clothing and a towel to wipe away the perspiration unless you’re accustomed to high humidity. Hotel Tara was delightful!

Long drive - but worth the trek from Bangkok - It was an amazing trip. Bunting our tour guide was amazing and informative. I have been to Bangkok many times and always wanted to do this - it’s a long drive there and back, but worth it!! The hotel in Siem Reap was nice and the town was a surprise. The floating village was a real experience and early start at Angkor Wat!! Bunting our tour guide really highlighted the key history, knew where to go for views and photos. The other surprise was the nearby historic city - so much to see. I have seen many old world monuments- Great Wall, Pyramids in Egypt and temples in Mexico - this really is up there as a special place. I travelled with my son and it was a great experience. Just be prepared for the car trip - also, get your Cambodia eVisa and Thai Dtac forms in place!!!

Excellent tour with great guides. Border transition very organized. - Incredible tour with fantastic clean and roomy hotel in Seam Reap. One of the best continental breakfasts we’ve had. Our tour guide, Yuth, and the Cambodian driver was excellent. Yuth speaks English very well and was very knowledgeable. We went with 3 teenagers and they were engaged the whole time. The driver in Cambodia was very kind and took us to a wonderful restaurant with delicious dishes. He also gave us water in between temples to cool us down. The border transition was very smooth as well. They take a picture of you and msg it to the next person so they can find you. They even have a guy inside the customs to tell you where to go. The total cost for the tourist visa is $30 per person total. There’s NOT an additional $5 for processing fee. The ride to the border is long but the driver stops at rest stops with lots of food you can buy and restrooms. Make sure you have proper Thai currency. Most places in Cambodia take credit cards and they’ll even take Thai currency. If you use Thai currency, they’ll give you back Cambodia Riel. We didn’t want any Riel, so we used a credit card. They may charge a credit card processing fee of a few percent.

The Cambodian side had no problems, but the Thai side was full of trouble. - It was a great trip to travel from Thailand to Cambodia by land, and it was very good on the Cambodian side. Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom were magnificent and impressive as you might expect, but it was exciting to see them living on the water in Tonle Sap Lake. We have a house on the lake, and they come together to form a village, and there are schools and shops! That was the best part because I had never thought about it and, to be honest, I didn't have much expectation. The guides who spoke Japanese also worked hard and it was good. However, I was told that I needed $15 to come early to see the light at Angkor Wat, so I gave it to him, but I was a little doubtful. It said no need to worry about extra money.??? On the other hand, on the Thai side, it was a bit difficult because there was a lot of trouble. The driver didn't know where to pick us up on the first day, so he called us but only spoke Thai, and we couldn't communicate because we only spoke Japanese, English and a little Thai, so we managed to join him in Katakoto Thai. I arrived at that border without any guidance after entering Cambodia (maybe I said it in Thai?) After entering the country, I couldn't join the Cambodian driver, and I went back and forth suspiciously at the border, and as I was doing this, a man said, "Is this you?" And he showed me my picture on his phone and said, "Yes, it's me!" Finally, they joined him. From there, I was relieved to be able to communicate in English. On the second day back in Thailand, we arrived at the border and were guided in English on the Cambodian side. However, the car was in bad condition and the engine stopped many times along the way. I managed to get to the service area, where I stopped and gave first aid. "Wait five minutes," he says in Thai, waiting anxiously. When I got back to the car, it seemed like I managed to give first aid, and after that I was driving comfortably for a while. However, as he approached his home in Bangkok, the engine stopped again. He was able to get to the front of his trompe l'oeil home, but could not drive any further, so he got off and went home. I managed to get to the front of my house, so good luck moving from there! I gave him a little tip, which meant that I was going to try it.
